OCC updated the Top 40 of 2018 so far a few days ago, and God's Plan (at 1.52m sales) is still pretty far ahead of Shotgun (at 1.36m). One Kiss is much closer though, if anything's gonna overtake Drake it'll be that song, not George's!

You're right, but when it comes to the EOY chart, older songs benefit more. Shotgun didn't impact as a single until around June, while God's Plan peaked in January and One Kiss impacted from April, so they've had longer to build up sales since they became hits. As I said, if they all came out in the same week, I expect Shotgun would be on higher sales. For context, it would've only left the top 10 a few weeks ago if it weren't for ACR, that's mega impressive!

can't believe Ezra did Shotgun instead of Hold my Girl, at least he could have done a little medley

funny how we were discussing the other day hope far up the charts Hold my girl would climb after the performance, and in the end he did his 9-mo old track :D

It's ridiculous - wish Ezra and his record company had the balls to say they want to promote the current single!

I am guessing George/the label are gunning for the biggest song of 2018 against One Kiss and God’s Plan. Think it has the potential to catch up by the end of December.

Would have preferred Hold My Girl still. The song is doing well on radio and downloads. It’s the sort of the song that would benefit from a tv performance.

Can't imagine the label caring too much if they scored the best selling single of the year or not!

Were they really so much bigger though? Shotgun actually feels bigger than both to me, and if they were all released at the start of the year like God's Plan, I feel quite confident that Shotgun would prove itself to be bigger on sales, with One Kiss second and God's Plan third.

There's def a shout for Shotgun vs Gods Plan but One Kiss has been undeniably massive across all formats.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Shotgun never actually was #1 on Spotify was it? While One Kiss was there for ages and did incredibly well on downloads as well.

Correct, and I’m pretty Shotgun peaked at 475-500k per day on Spotify, whereas One Kiss was doing 850-900k.

Yeh I would say One Kiss is the years biggest track but maybe I'm biased as I'm not a fan of Gods Plan!

Shotgun was huge across all formats too so I'm not sure what the point here is :P

I think Shotgun was more unlucky to get blocked by Three Lions and In My Feelings on Spotify - it was #2 for a VERY long time. One Kiss peaked higher on daily streams but I would argue Shotgun has been more consistent, the fact it's STILL going strong on sales and streams is pretty incredible, One Kiss wasn't this high at this point in its run.

My point is that If I want to make that point I still can even if it's clearly frustrated you.

One Kiss was no1 for like 9 weeks and it was dominant across all formats including airplay/downloads/streams and as another poster pointed out its streams peaked hugely One various days/weeks. Let's just agree both songs were equally huge I guess.

I'm not frustrated at all and I don't think my post displayed that whatsoever, I was debating with you which is the entire point of this forum, no? You suggested One Kiss was bigger because it was huge across all formats, but so was the song you're comparing it to. That's simply what I was suggesting.

One Kiss had 8 weeks at #1, and God's Plan had 9, but it's interesting to see that while Shotgun "only" had 4 weeks at the top, there were five weeks at #2 in the middle and a further one beforehand - ten weeks in the top 2 and avoiding ACR the whole time is very impressive and I think we can't forget that!

Shotgun did manage 3 days at #1 on Spotify, and was also #1 for the week 2018-07-12 before spending a long while at #2. Its Spotify run in general has been very impressive.

Yeh well that's true, it had a lot of time at number 2 when Three Lions and In My Feelings sold more but were less consistent.

I just felt your post was a little passive aggressive at mine but maybe I took it wrongly!

Where do you get the chart runs on Spotify?

How far realistically will Dalton Harris push the #2 down over the next 24 hours with his winner's single?

I still wouldn't be so sure Dalton will be the winner. If he does win though I reckon he could push #1 down to 0.13.
