It's just Tik Tok (loads of vids using the sped up version of the bridge) + her tour/videos of this song going viral due to her "Good evening *insert city/state* we have reached our first bridge of the evening" I think.

I re-listened to this album recently and I have to say I've downgraded it, I didn't like it quite as much as I thought I did in 2019. There's some absolute shockers on here!

It’s possibly my least favourite pop album of hers (but the highs on this are high) but it’s a tad too long and then the single choices weren’t really very good at all.

I never really disliked ME but it wasn’t a great lead at all and You Need To Calm Down was a even worse follow up.

I’d have probably done the singles as

1. Cruel Summer

2. Lover

3. The Man

4. The Archer

I’d have had this as around a 13 track album with You Need To Calm Down, London Boy, Paper Rings, I Think he Knows and I Forgot That You Existed left off the tracklist and then re-arrange the actual tracklist for a better listening experience sonically.

Cruel Summer (lead single)

You Need to Calm Down (promo single/video as a dedication to the LGBTQ+ community)

The Man (official second single - album released off the back of this)

Lover (Christmas single)

'London Boy' really is an absolute shocker.

So there is a picture circling Facebook of a lover from the vault edition with tracklist of 26 tracks maybe it's true

I’d have to disagree, I thought ME and You Need To Calm Down were great single choices. Wish she was performing me at the Eras tour. Two of my favourites of Taylor’s. Lover, for me, was a dud of a single. Glad Cruel Summer is getting its moment as it’s easily the best song on the album.

Can’t wait to see her next June in Liverpool!

I cannot stop listening to this for some reason this week, to the point I’m even tolerating London Boy (it’s still awful in every way but it’s kind of got some charm 😭😂)

There’s honestly so many gems on this album! (And all the non-Lover song singles get far too much hate)

Lets see how much my thoughts have differed since first listen!! (A LOT!!)

I Forgot You Existed - It's alright. Bit of a boring opener though, feels more, "middle of the album filler". 6/10

Cruel Summer - Amazing. I feel like this is gonna be the closest we get to 'Out Of the Woods' & 'Getaway Car'. What a bop! Absolutely must be a single. 9/10

Lover - Good but this is already the most overrated of the era. 7/10

The Man - A bop! So good. It's sassy without being vindictive, like she's done in the past. Surely a single? 8.5/10

The Archer - This is so gorgeous! I love it. Def not a single, but it's stunning. 9/10

I Think He Knows - This is decent enough. A potential grower? 7/10

Miss Americana - Good track. Very Halsey as has been stated numerous times. 7.5/10

Paper Rings - Quite Avril-y to me! I like it. Very reminscent of Avril's 'The Best Damn Thing' era! (One of my fave albums!) 8/10

Cornelia Street - This is really good! Instant, but also a potential grower! Like this a lot. 8.5/10

Death By A Thousand Cuts - This is cute. One of the more fillery on the album, but it's decent filler. Production is a bit all over the place at times though. 7/10

London Boy - This is 'This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things' except blander, duller and shitter. 4/10

Soon You'll Get Better - This is lovely. One of those songs I can't see growing, but I can't see me tiring of it either. Very nice. 8/10

False God - Boring and forgettable. Meh. 5.5/10

You Need To Calm Down - Still love this. More than most it would seem. Very catchy and it is holding up well for me! 9/10

Afterglow - Cute. Another fillery track, but it serves it's purpose well. 7/10

Me! - Catchy and good, but after listening to the album, there's definitely more worthy lead singles! 8.5/10

It's Nice To Have A Friend - It's meh. Plods along. Coulda done without it. 5.5/10

Daylight - This is cute. Fillery, but cute. Again. 6/10

I feel like she could've EASILY dwindled this down to a strong and solid 12/13 track album instead of an 18 track one. But it's really good!

New rating at the start...

05.5 I Forgot You Existed > BORING. Interesting production though. < 6/10

11.0 Cruel Summer > One of the greatest pop songs in recent times. No joke. Outstanding. < 9/10

10.0 Lover > Really stunning. One of her absolute best ballads. Still sounds so Christmassy to me! < 7/10

09.0 The Man > Such a bop! Deserved more when it was a single! I see this is starting to make traction on Tik Tok... < 8.5/10

10.0 The Archer > The blueprint for 'epiphany' & 'Labyrinth'... CHANGE MY MIND!!! < 9/10

09.0 I Think He Knows > The initial reactions to this is so funny. Everyone who wasn't on Buzzjack, hated it (and I liked it, but didn't love!!) Such a great song. Wouldn't surprise me to see this randomly take off on Tik Tok at some point in all honesty! < 7/10

08.5 Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince > This grows on me the more I hear it. I just need to get into the habit of actively playing it more... < 7.5/10

08.5 Paper Rings > This is just so warm, cute and FUN! < 8/10

08.0 Cornelia Street > A gorgeous song tbh. The vocal production on this is lush! < 8.5/10

07.0 Death By A Thousand Cuts > The production is interesting but it's a bit of an inconsistent mess lol. Kinda plays to it's favour a little bit! I find this a bit overrated amongst the fanbase though! < 7/10

06.0 London Boy > LOOK. YEAHHHH... At least it's not boring!! (Although this really is just 'This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things' minus the charm! < 4/10

07.0 Soon You'll Get Better > This is lovely. A bit *too* sad for this album though, imo. < 8/10

10.0 False God > One of her most daring, unique and riskiest tracks. It works SO well for her. I *think* it's a top 10 Tay track for me! Maybe top 15 but def top 20! SO SMOOTH AND LUSH! The trinity of Dress - this - I Can See You >>>>>>>> incredible. < 5.5/10

07.5 You Need To Calm Down > I still feel like I like this more than most, but it's not aged *too* great sonically for me. It's a fun bop though and people take it WAYYYY too seriously. < 9/10

07.0 Afterglow > Probably the only song I haven't really changed my opinion on all that much. It's nice. < 7/10

06.5 Me! > Probably don't hate this as much as others, but I understand why it is so loathed. It's a fun, catchy bop though. "HEY KIDS SPELLING IS FUN!" version >>>> < 8.5/10

05.5 It's Nice To Have A Friend > I'm not fond of this much at all. Just plods on and on and on and on and on... < 5.5/10

08.5 Daylight > Love this. The pulsing production is GORGEOUS and the vocal production is stunning! < 6/10

--BONUS--

07.0 All Of The Girls You Loved Before > This is cute. Not sure it's essential but it's a nice addition. <

I've been listening to this album a lot more the last free months again and Daylight has been a real find - taken notice of it in a way I didn't previously. Best album finisher ever
