Good improvement for Coldplay on yesterdays update.

George Ezra safe for the Number 2 album and sales should close near 35k for him.

Are Take That still Number 6?

Edited by pippa

Yay at Mark increasing his lead from Mariah. Hope he overtakes Halsey too

Yes.

So happy James-Marie are still top 10 and Dalton is not plummeting THAT much at #17.

Dalton holding up on downloads and starting to add more streams, good to see he's not totally freefalling.

Decent album sales though lower than previous Xmas' obviously. TGS set for 65k and george/Buble for 40k or so. Top 5 could get close to 30k. Maybe next week the Christmas no1 album could reach 100k? Or maybe just short!!

Surprised to see Ellie climb despite falling lots on Spotify

I just realised Driving Home for Christmas only reached its peak of #14 last year, despite being released in 1988 (where it charted at #53).

Why did it take so long for it to become a Christmas hit?

Xmas name for when?!

Also with spotify missing how accurate are the midweeks this week?

Wouldn't be surprised if that's just an early midweek quirk that'll be fixed later on.
It appears to be not the case, 'Arms Around You' is still appearing in the midweek update alongside XXX's 3 other songs.

Streaming from the previous day is always missing, so a Thursday update only ever includes streaming from Friday to Tuesday - therefore the midweeks are as accurate as they possibly can be.

Just from memory it first charted in the top 40 in the download era around the late noughties! Think it peaked at 33 but since streaming it has repeaked consistently!

Not sure why it never charted in the late 80s I imagine it was a combination of low airplay as he may not have been cool for radio 1 by the late 80s and then over the years it got used in Xmas ads and got a proper video. Think it may have been used in a big tv show in the beginning of the noughties.

Oh. I thought Ariana at the end of the week would be smashing Poker Face P.II. It is surprising then that they are so close :o

Driving Home For Christmas first managed to reach the top 40 in 2007 and has re-entered the top 100 every year since then.
