There is an opening for such a release from Kylie is they can get the legal side sorted due to the different licensing on the songs.

Similar to the Greatest Hits, if the right package was put together with a good single to promote it, an album like this could match the sales of Kiss Me Once.

Her Greatest Hits has huge potential to perform well and if released on the right week, with strong formats and promotion Kylie could achieve another Number 1 album.

I read on Popjustice that Kylie had rights to all her material now although I don't know where that stands with the songs that weren't on albums. Even if it's just the B-sides and bonus tracks though, there would be enough material for an album.

I don't think Kylie would challenge #1 unless it was on a really low sales week but I could see it having decent longevity over the course of the summer shows.

(Actually, that said, I guess Lionel Richie returned to #1 with his greatest hits following Glastonbury and Dolly Parton and ELO weren't far off.)

If the Greatest Hits could attract the same opening sales of Golden it could debut at Number 1 in many weeks of the year.

It will all depend who she releases against.

That said, at the time Kiss Me Once was released i thought she would easily outsell the George Michael album that week so you can never call it.

I’m not entirely convinced a new Greatest Hits will perform well. Remember the market has changed a lot since ultimate and now greatest hits are increasingly becoming redundant since streaming came about. It would need to feature new material to stand a chance of doing reasonably well but I still think the whole timing is strange after one decent comeback album with a new record label. I’d rather Kylie focus on taking an extended break and coming back with a strong follow up album!

I think it makes perfect sense to release one this year. She's doing Glastonbury - one of the biggest gigs on the planet, and in a coveted slot. She'll get loads of coverage and publicity and I expect to see a few songs / albums back in the charts. Not to mention the other summer shows. Plus, she doesn't have a readily available greatest hits so it makes sense to release one after a fairly successful album and when there will be plenty of hype around her.

It will be interesting to see what songs will get a big streaming boost after glastonbury and will any make it back into the top 100.

Spoiler alert: it's going to be "Can't get you out of my head"...

Greatest hits are redundant for acts who are not physical sellers due to Spotify plays, Kylie is not part of the streaming generation except for one song

In large people who would be interested in a Kylie release, especially a Greatest Hits will buy the CD version, that applies to fans and casual buyers.

Her hardcore fans will buy the CD, Vinyl and Cassette in addition to streaming it and possibly purchase the download too.

For this year, outside the shows i have hopes for a new Greatest Hits, at least 1 single and possibly a DVD release of some of her live performances.

If are lucky that a new single comes our way, i would greatly welcome a cd and vinyl edition of the released, with both getting released at the same time.

This! I’d love them to actually *try* and have a chart hit - I’m certain ‘Dancing’ could have easily gone Top 20 with a little effort (Not releasing midweek and physical formats!).
