It’s terrible! I’ve tried to get into it but it’s like a cast off Sweetener track for sure.

Nah. The hype is still very much there. Her first day streams were literally people anticipating it. No one knew the the song would be about her exes did they? She did this all on her own *.*

I doubt it'll do the numbers TUN did, but I think an easy 700k+ streams in day one will be possible.

‘Only’ 328k :(

I'm not sure it's a single and I can't see myself going back to it as much as Thank U, Next but it's stunning, her voice is so on point - the whistle notes

Still not a fan :(

It's nice but I'm finding alot of her songs seem really samey especially with Sweetner by far her worst album for me

First live performance from Fallon and she really doesn't sound very good 🙁 She must be ill or something because I've never heard her sound that bad. The whistle notes (which I love in the studio version) are definitely mimed, hence why there are no close ups during them

I do like it as a song though! It's nowhere near as bad as the worst tracks on 'Sweetener', I'd compare it more to a bonus track on 'Dangerous Woman' that I wouldn't skip but wouldn't seek out on its own

I'm very impressed that it looks set to debut in the top 10 on Friday though, it will be her fifth single to debut there this year if it manages it!

Are you serious ? I thought she sounded AMAZING and the whistle notes sounded live to me ! Was a great performance.

Not really sold on the song itself but I don't think that was a bad performance at all, either! I suppose those whistle notes could have been mimed but I really couldn't blame her for that.

She looks sad. She's had such a hard couple of years yet keeps on going.

Hoping single number 2 is a banger.

This is featured at #22 on Slant Magazine's '50 Best Songs of 2019' list :o (thanks Liam for pointing me in the direction of this list with your recent posts!)

Released late last year in support of Ariana Grande’s fifth album, Thank U, Next, “Imagine” is a dreamy, sensual midtempo ballad, with the singer pining for an Instagram-perfect romance that comprises sexy baths, “creepy” secrets, and sharing pad thai. The track takes a sudden turn in its final third, as it builds to a hypnotic climax filled with cinematic orchestral swells and Grande’s euphoric, Ripperton-esque whistle notes. Cinquemani

I was hoping that Ari would pop up at some point while I was scrolling through but wasn't expecting it to be with this, an interesting choice. 'imagine' was a real grower for me, I couldn't deny that power combo of orchestral build-up and whistle notes for too long. It really is lovely

imagine is one of her very best for me tbh.

At the time it was released I remember preferring it to the actual singles from that album and in some ways I think I still do. Vocally it’s one of her very best tracks. I love it.
