13th. One More Chance = 6 Votes

Welcome to Round 3 and the 3rd song to lose its place is the lovely 'One More Chance', which was one of the new songs recorded for the 'Something To Remember' collection and was released in March 1996, as the 2nd single in Australia and Japan, then third in Europe. An acoustic pop ballad that lyrically talks about attempting to win a lost lover back and was inspired by Madonna's own real life experience, but she wrote it from the opposite point of view. Upon release the song didn't receive a video or any promo due to her filming 'Evita' at the time and performed rather modestly worldwide with a #11 peak in the UK & top 40 peaks in Australia and Sweden, but fared much better in Italy with a #2 peak.

The song does see Madonna venture in something rather new at this point in her career with this acoustic guitar based ballad, and at the beginning it sounds like 'More Than Words' by Extreme which makes this one of Madonna's most compelling and beautiful songs. There's a real tender and sadness in her vocals on this which makes this song a real standout on the album and while it may not be one of her better or more remembered hits, its a nice little underrated moment in Madonna's discography that's worth checking out.
