Did they (1D) contributed more than Westlife, on music and on people's lives in general? :P

On those days that you said I wasn't alive I was a huge Oasis fan when no one in my country knew who they are. Please don't prejudge and the amount of propaganda for 1D was 10

times bigger than Spice Girls. Both of them were average at best, though at least Spice Girls have couple of great hits. personally I love Viva Forever very much. Their other so called

hits were just for teens but the thing about Westlife that stroke me first was the amount of great songs on their debut album and then with others. Name one band which have song

like "Soledad" which not make the cut to be released as a single. The song was so good that even Mike Tyson once said I love it despite his love for hip-hop. EVERY track in each

Westlife's album has the potential to be single. "When a Woman Loves a Man" is one of the greatest songs dedicated to women all over the world. Because of this I love Westlife.

Because they have magic touch with their songs. You can't name many Shane, Mark or Bryan (back then) with this quality of voice. Even when they released uptempo songs

like When You're Looking Like That they would outclass any band. Take "Imaginary Diva" for example, they can sing in EVERY Genre. Garth Brooks (the biggest country male solo

artist ever for me) said that the cover of "The Dance" by Westlife was as good as his original version or even better and you know that this song is one of top 5 country

songs ever. World of Our Own, Hit You With a Real Thing, Talk Me Down, What About Know and the list can goes on and on. They can sing every song, that's the reason why I love

them and don't get me wrong. I listened to Oasis songs and then switched back to Westlife. So I'm not your another teenage fan. I wrote one year before this edition of

Grammy (for one site that I'm working for as a music journalist) that Kacey Musgraves will win album of the year and she won it and remember that many album released

after that but I knew that no one has the ability to top this one. My advice for you is not judging anyone before know him/her in person. That's it for you, no matter Better Man

ended up at no.100 or whatever, I think it is the best song released during this two or three weeks and don't presume everyone who loves Westlife is a teenager.

One of the biggest free falls.... Better Man is at midweek's #22.....

I was hoping they would at least be in the Top 20. That's a shame but I can't say I am too surprised.

Are they releasing a CD single of this? Not that sales were particularly huge on CD for ‘Hello My Love’ but they certainly helped.

Also I know it’s dropped to #22 but I’m still impressed Westlife are even managing to trouble the Top 40 in 2019 with streaming being so dominant!

u cant be impressed since they are the band with the most no1 singles in the UK and be active..

but this streaming era destroyed their chances... All their power was their fanbase which adored them, but asking ur fans to stream, instead of buying is like scoring an own goal..... half of the country should be ur fanbase to win that way....

Nothing Westlife does now can tarnish what they achieved before so yes, in this day and age, we can and more importantly should be impressed by their success even if it isn't no. 1. or Top 10 and exactly because streaming is so important. Like I said, no one ever expected for HML to be such a success but it was. It didn't happen with Better Man but it is not a tragedy. It might pick up in the next few weeks or it might not but it really doesn't matter. I am actually glad it seems the guys aren't worried like most WL fans are because if they did constantly worry, their comeback wouldn't have been enjoyable and it would probably be short.

You have to also consider though, it was a different generation ago when they were achieving this. I'd say two top 40 singles from a band like them who were at their peak in the early 00's is actually a good achievement.

And Take That's last two second singles did not even chart in the top 100 Let in the sun and new day. We are already in streaming era and not in the sales era. Hello my love was number two in sales, number one if Thursday sales were included

#26 debut here this week. Not bad going at all! I reckon they'll probably push out some acoustics and remixes in the coming weeks like they did for the last single to help it sustain.

#1 Physical

#2 Sales

#2 Scotland

#3 Downloads

Charting and sales was like Us Against the World on 2008 a non Steve Mac single. No 2 in Scotland No 8 in UK No 6 in Ireland

This really showcases just how important streaming is. So you really do have to also interest general public enough if you want to have success these days. Unfortunately Better Man simply didn’t do that but maybe next single will.
