I think it’s one of them songs what most people know but not many know the name or artist.

When it was originally released was it pushed? I only ever really hear it on shows like X Factor.

And BGT. I feel like songs like these are one hit wonders but without the public knowing the artist. I wonder how the song blew up?

surprised it has not been the XF winner song yet, think Simon Cowell bought the rights

cannot recall where it peaked in the uk, not top 40 for sure

but in the US it was a bit unlucky and peaked at #101 (#1 bubbling under)

I can't see it anywhere that Cowell bought the rights to it.

It was used on Doctor Who last year as well.

Sure you have. In the summer of 2007 it made the Top 40 for Yves LaRock, #13 I think.

I think Cowell buying the rights was a joke on several forums as he’d used it so many times on XF/ all his other shows

Rise Up was a Top 20 Sales hit but had no streams so peaked at No 61 in 2015 for Andra Day.

It's one of Simon Cowell's favourite songs from the last few years so that's why it started being included as background music in his shows both here and in the U.S. and then chosen/given to contestants. It's only ever sold immediately after it's been on TV. It probably hasn't even ever been serviced to UK radio.
