Yep. 'Break Free' had such a horrible release and wasn't allowed to chart for like 2 or 3 weeks!

"Nothing Really Matters" by Mr Probz - #72 (after "Waves" went to #1)

Lorde - Team (29, after Royals)

Daft Punk - Lose Yourself to Dance (49, after Get Lucky)

Unsure whether Icona Pop's UK follow-up to I Love It was All Night - which peaked at 31 - or Girlfriend which did not chart. Neither are great outcomes.

If Gotye ever released a follow-up to STIUTK, it never charted.

If we're looking at albums (OP never specified :P) Robin Thicke went from one end of the top 200 to the other. Blurred Lines peaked at #1 with follow-up Paula only managing #200!

Apparently there were other singles from the Gotye album, although in a 2010s context it's difficult to judge whether they were "released" in the UK.

Still, he probably should have made another album by now.

I think Gotye went back to making music with his old band, the Basics

Did he have to think a lot about doing that, or was it just instinct? #90sreference

That Chicane follow up really deserved a lot more than 28, brilliant song but too different to his number one to have been a big hit really.
All Night was indeed the UK follow up for Icona Pop and the better single imo :kink: (although I Love It is still 10/10)

Sublime song - still listen to it now and it definitely deserved a much higher peak.

Take That, Let In The Sun was the follow up to These Days which charted at number 161.

Katy B's #1 album Little Red was followed by Honey, which debuted at #28 and then left the top 100.
Interesting to see how much "Reality" by Lost Frequencies and "Nothing Really Matters" by Mr Probz flopped badly in the UK. They were defintiely hammered over here, although they played the remix version of "NRM".
Sandi Thom followed up I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker... with the far superior #22 What If I'm Right back in 2006.

It was the remix that got a Spotify push here also (peaked at #53 on Spotify), but I don't think it got any radio push.
