11. Gotye featuring Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know

Low scores : 0 - ThePensmith, 2 - King Rollo, 3 - Spiceboy

This was voted last year as Buzzjack's favourite one hit wonder and it's the highest placed of the one hit wonders that made it to the final here. It uses a sample from the song 'Seville' by Luiz Bonfa. It spent five non-consecutive weeks at no.1 and was the best selling single of 2011.

So 50% of the top 10 belong to Britney or Madonna...

The other 5 are a mixed selection, but they're all on my iPod, as indeed are Baby One More Time and Like A Prayer, so I'd be happy with any of those 7 winning.

So Don't Look Back In Anger is in the top ten? That's fab news!
poor Gotye, deserved top 10, brilliant song

From 2004,Britney Spears' fourth no.1. It samples the Bollywood song 'Tere Mere Beech Mein' and won Britney her first and only Grammy award. The song had previously been rejected by Kylie Minogue.

And here's another sample,Dobbo. I think everyone will know this is from Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight). It was only the second time Benny and Bjorn had allowed one of their songs to be used. This is the highest placed song in the top 100 from this century. I would not have predicted this to be Buzzjack's favourite 21st Century no.1 single.

8. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

Average score - 8.026

Top scores : 11 - King Rollo,dj tim e,xajnipi, 10 - Scene,marcinjaro,vibe,Liam,Bjork,Chapman,dobbo,Chez Wombat,zeus555,jimwatts,Mark223,Jade,Bre

Low scores : -1 - Jack, 4 - dandy*,JackJones

And here is my own favourite no.1 single. It's the first song so far to receive three scores of 11. It might have been a possible contender to win this poll but there will always be a few people who don't like it at all or are just too familiar with it. Only four singles have spent a longer amount of time at no.1.

#8 is higher than I expected for 'Bohemian Rhapsody' tbh, there's always been a noticeable minority of people on here who don't like it. It's really quite an unusual song to be so widely acclaimed!

7. Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger

Average score - 8.077

Writer - Noel Gallagher

Top scores : 11 - Jester, 10 - marcinjaro,Bjork,N-S,M4NG0,Chapman,dobbo,Chez Wombat,zeus555,oof,ThePensmith,PeteFromLeeds,xajnipi,coi,Jade,Bre

Low scores : 0 - Jack, 2 - Liam

This spent just one week at no.1 in 1996 and was Oasis' second chart topper. It finished in 4th place when the Official Charts Company did their own public poll of no.1 singles in 2012.

Well that's two of the best songs left going in one fell swoop :(

Must admit, I do enjoy Rather Be/Somebody That I Used to Know but they feel quite absurdly high amongst all these classics, they haven't aged all that well.

I was going to say now watch all the songs above it be far inferior but DLBIA is incredible as well, if we take out Hung Up this is a solid top 10 so far.

6. Shakespears Sister - Stay

Average score - 8.115

Writers - Siobhan Fahey,Marcella Detroit,David A Stewart

Top scores : 10 - marcinjaro,Liam,Bjork,M4NG0,Chapman,dandy*,oof,Popchartfreak,JackJones,Jade

Low scores : 4 - vibe, 4.5 - Jason,coi

This coincides nicely with Shakespears Sister performing the song on the Graham Norton show two weeks ago and releasing a new single this week with a tour to follow. 'Stay' spent eight weeks at no.1 in 1992,the longest running no.1 by a female group.

I've always found Stay a little overrated but it's a very powerful song. Quite a few of my friends were all born when that was #1 due it's seriously impressive stint at the top.

Ah, gutted about Oasis going out but not too surprised I suppose.

Tainted Love getting top five? I have to say I'm surprised.

The top 20 is panning out quite well, a great mix of styles and eras. Delighted to see Stay this high, I adored that back in 1992.
