Voted for 'Fever' in both polls, and I'm so glad that the final 2 albums are these as this and 'LY' are the best body of works she's ever accomplished and did incredible things for Kylie career wise, while 'LY' is my personal favourite album of hers, 'Fever' is a very close runner up, and if it wasn't for the latter then we wouldn't have had this masterpiece, which yes is a definite more refined and polished offering, however I consider both of these complete and utter masterpieces, and these marked an amazing time in Kylie's career that showed that she was back and here to stay forever.

For this post I will be talking about 'Fever' of course, a track by track review and I will do the same for 'Light Years' in the results post.

More, More, More - Not kicking things off with the lead single, okay very rarely she's done this and I'm down with that. I know this track gets a bit of a bashing by Kylie fans, but personally I really like it, as this does set the tone for the album, with some wonderful breathy vocals, along with some cool frothy production that not only captures that carefree disco sound, but gives it a modern twist with Kylie at her most alluring. A really good start to the album.

Love At First Sight - Classy and so effortlessly cool, this was an instant standout for me upon the album's release and quite rightly became a smash hit single. This is just simply superb and a perfect example of early 00's pop/dance songs. Of course it also helps that this is elevated by its extremely polished production that not only oozes that feel-good vibe, but a perfect reminder of summer. No wonder this gem quickly became a firm fan favourite, as well as a firm staple on her tours.

Can't Get You Out Of My Head - Now we finally get to the lead single, well what can I say about this, that hasn't already been said. This track is just amazing, everything came together and just worked so beautifully, with the minimal electro beat, the killer video, Kylie's amazing vocals and the sheer futuristic style of it all. This did some amazing things for Kylie and all of it was well deserved as it just blew up everywhere, taking the world by storm and enjoyed every single moment of it. The overplay did kill it a bit (which is to be expected), but enough time has passed now to fully enjoy this modern masterpiece of a song.

Fever - The title track of the album with this sexy and certainly suggestive little number that does sound a little bit like an updated 80's song, while at the same time totally fitting in with the theme of the album. Lyrically it isn't very deep, (not everything has to be), but its a fun and catchy electro pop song which really comes to life when the chorus hits.

Give It To Me - Definitely the weakest song on this album, a short sharp number that sounds slightly out of place on here with its heavily treated chopped up vocals and annoying telephone ringing. This feels like an experiment that didn't quite work out, but on the plus side at least its short.

Fragile - A more sophisticated offering now with this gorgeously layered number with beautiful soothing vocals by Kylie that exudes passion and feeling, while at the same time showing show vulnerability. Probably the closest thing to a ballad on here and it fits in perfectly.

Come Into My World - Now I must admit that it took me some time to appreciate this, especially in its original album form which does sound a bit demo-ish, but in its single mix, an definite triumph that simply soars with some beautiful breathy vocals by Kylie, some chilled out beats, silky synths, all of which adds up to yet another cool classy little pop number that ended this massive era not only perfectly but on an absolute high. (Although I wished we got more singles), but we can't have everything now can we.

In Your Eyes - A thumping and aggressive beat and an incredibly infectious chorus, with its incredibly cool mix of Disco & Techno and all of which makes for yet another brilliant and perfectly crafted anthem that just goes off everytime you hear it. This was the perfect choice to follow up a massive lead with such a cracking tune and love the self-reference to a certain other big hit of hers. Just a well round great pop song that of course is yet another firm highlight, not only on this album, but in Kylie's amazing discography.

Dancefloor - A more of a Pop sound to the rest of the album and would probably feel more at home on 'LY'. But it still bounces along nicely with Kylie having enough of her man and decides to take to the Dance-floor (get it). The song is a fun break up track that flows along at a nice brisk pace.

Love Affair - More fantastic electro pop now with Kylie at her seductively best. This is a perfectly crafted slice of a pop tune that compliments 'IYE' beautifully with its similar club style with trance like inflections, this is an undeniable album standout and if there was a contender for a 5th single, then this would do nicely.

Your Love - Winding things down now with this stunning mid-tempo number that has a great laid back feel to it, along with some nice gentle lilting guitars to the mix. This does have a similar feel to some of the other tracks on the album, but without sounding same-y, instead Kylie succeeds at creating a well crafted cohesive body of work.

Burning Up - Closing this album on a definite high with the usual teaming of acoustic verses and an upbeat dance chorus, which works brilliantly, with something full of class, funk and disco all rolled into one track. Kylie's high pitched vocals on the choruses are also fantastic and the live performance of this on the 'Fever Tour' was a definite highlight. Dare I say it, a absolute highlight on this album and a great way to end things (on the standard edition anyway).

Tightrope - Why was this only included on the Australian version of the album, yet 'Give It To Me' made it onto all versions. Well that was just criminal and this could have easily replaced said track. Anyway this is yet another perfectly crafted masterpiece of a pop song with some gorgeous production and a stunning chorus that really soars, and really shows the high quality in Kylie's music (even a lot of her b-sides are killer). This would have been a worthy addition to an already wonderful album.

Like I already said also voted for 'Fever' in the least fave singles run, I literally had to do a coin toss to make that decision, and both this and 'ROL' had a perfect and best run of singles of her entire career.

Great review Sam! I agree that 'More More More' seems to get a hard time from some fans. I love it! I like that the album doesn't start with the obvious choice of CGYOOMH, hard to put my finger on why exactly but I think the album is largely so cool and light and gentle that having a big hit kicking off the album would slightly distract that, even though the song is very cool and minimal itself.

'Give It To Me' is definitely the weak link but still enjoyable. I'd still replace it with 'Tightrope' though, how that was left off I do not know!

Everything else is stunning. Definitely one of her best albums.

Thanks so much for your comments, I just love doing these Kylie album reviews, any excuse to give these another spin and if there is a results post, then I'm gonna do a review for 'Light Years', which is still pretty fresh on my mind and can't wait to share my views.

The 'Fever' album was such an amazing moment for us Kylie fans as it really put her up there in the big leagues and a whole new generation discovered Kylie and what she brings to music is something really special. In my opinion this and 'LY' really redefined pop music of that decade.
