April 19, 20197 yr There's something so infectious about 'Options' *.* although I do wish it hadn't blocked 'Boasty' from the top 10.

In fact, Jones (born Timucin Aluo in 1987) was a cowriter and producer on the song, whose No. 1 position marked his auspicious debut. Raised in London by a Turkish father, a Malaysian mother and a Nigerian stepfather, Jones grew up on a mix of American hip-hop, UK dance and African music, which might help to explain the mix of styles that swirls through his music: His youthful fondness for Prince shows through in funk-infused cuts like 2015’s “Ocean Drive”, while Afro-Caribbean accents bubble up in 2018’s “Ring Ring,” a lilting tropical-house jam. Though his beats generally follow the punchy cadence of deep-diving future house, he brings a hip-hop producer’s collage sensibility to the mixing desk: Many of his productions slyly interpolate other songs. “You Don’t Know Me”, from 2017, is built around the slinky hook of M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade’s 2005 anthem “Body Language”, while “I Got U” contains a choice bit of Whitney Houston’s “My Love Is Your Love”. Whether on his own productions or his remixes for Ellie Goulding, Charlie XCX and Missy Elliott, Jones’ habitual blend of pop polish and house groove is unmistakable. In conversation with Beats 1’s Julie Adenuga, he spoke about his unique relationship to dance music. “I just thought I'd try it,” he said. “House is a collage of everything the creator is. If you love hip-hop, you can chuck that in there. If you love rock, you can chuck that in there too. It took a long time, but now it makes a lot of sense. It’s sample-based and also musical, so it's a very natural fit. Life is beautiful like that. They say you have to, like, get rid of yourself to go to the next level. And I think that’s what happened.” - iTunes Martin Solveig Though he grew up singing in the church choir and studying classical music, by age 13 French DJ Martin Solveig (born Martin Picandet) had his first pair of turntables and was showing off his skills to his friends. At 18, while working in a local record store, he further discovered the complexity of electronic music, and shortly thereafter was spinning at some of the most prestigious clubs in Paris. In 2001, Solveig worked with Bob Sinclar on Africanism, contributing his track "Edony" to the album. The single went on to be a hit, and after graduating from college, the DJ decided to release a full-length record. Sur la Terre -- which came out in 2002 on his own label, Mixture, and was made using both live and electronic instrumentation -- was also inspired by African rhythms, leading to a remix of Malian singer Salif Keita's song "Malan." In 2004 Solveig decided to move toward American funk and rock, releasing "Rocking Music," sung by Jay Sebag, followed by another full-length, Hedonist, in 2005. A third album, C'est la Vie, was issued in 2008, but it was only with his fourth effort, 2011's aptly titled Smash, that he finally broke through into the mainstream. Home to a number of singles featuring Dragonette, Smash included Solveig's chart-topping hit song "Hello" with the Canadian band, the success of which attracted the interest of Madonna. The singer chose him to work on her album MDNA, and the pair developed a mutual respect and a close working relationship in the studio. Post-MDNA, Solveig continued collaborating, releasing The Night Out EP in 2012; the 2013 single "Hey Now" with the Cataracs, and "Blow" featuring Laidback Luke in 2014. In 2015, Solveig returned with "Intoxicated" with the production duo GTA, as well as the house music-infused "+1," with vocals by Sam White. "Do It Right" with Tkay Maidza and "Places" with Ina Wroldsen arrived the next year, with the Alma-featuring "All Stars" landing in 2017. - iTunes Madison Beer Known for her effervescence, Madison Beer is a pop singer and actress from Long Island, New York. A music lover and experimenter from an early age, Beer started posting YouTube videos of herself singing covers of varied well-known songs as a 13-year-old in 2012. That summer, pop idol Justin Bieber came across her version of Etta James' "At Last" and shared it with his over 25 million Twitter followers. The resulting media coverage led to a record deal with Island Records and a management deal with Bieber's manager the following year. Around that time, she was also cast in a small role in the independent film Louder Than Words, which starred David Duchovny and made its film festival premiere late in 2013. Her debut single, the poppy, melismatic "Melodies," also appeared late that year, and was followed by "Unbreakable" in 2014. Her vocals have appeared on other artists' songs, including Cody Simpson's "Valentine" and the 2015 club track "I Won't Let You Walk Away" by Mako. Beer delivered the moody breakup single "Dead" in May 2017, followed in November by "Say It to My Face." Both songs were later included on her debut EP, 2018's As She Pleases, which also spawned the single "Home." The album cracked the Top 90 of the Billboard 200. That same year, she issued the non-album single "Hurts Like Hell," featuring Offset. - iTunes _______________________________________________________________ Top 100 Chart History Jax Jones 2014 01 I Got U (Duke Dumont feat. April 19, 20197 yr Yessss keep climbing 'All Day And Night'  this is currently #1 in my chart! It seems like I'm falling back in love with basic dance after taking to both this and Meduza :kink: it reminds me of 'One Kiss' in a way, a pretty basic chorus but totally elevated by retro vibes. I can't unhear the 'Insomnia' comparisons *.*
April 19, 20197 yr "All Day And Night" has grown on me so much, sounds great in the sun  Hope it can be a big hit!
April 19, 20197 yr There's something so infectious about 'Options' *.* although I do wish it hadn't blocked 'Boasty' from the top 10. It’s grown on me quite a bit, only now getting into it! Hadn’t really heard it other than a couple of times on the radio though. Good example of when you don’t seek something out, expecting not to like it, but it creeps up on you.
April 19, 20197 yr I thought this would be climbing quicker tbh, it sounds so massive. I usually hate Madison Beer but she did a good job on this one ~ Can see it doing pretty well on the streams over the Bank Holiday weekend so maybe a bigger rise next week?

Born Sigrid Solbakk Raabe on September 5, 1996 into a music-loving family and brought up in the sunny seaport of Ålesund in western Norway, about 300 miles from Oslo, she was the youngest of three siblings, each of whom had their own musical career. Her sister Johanne was a classically trained singer who had studied in Italy and Spain, while her brother Tellef had tasted indie success at home with his own band. Growing up influenced by classic artists like Joni Mitchell, Chet Baker, and Neil Young, she was taught to play the piano at an early age by her grandmother and guitar by her brother, and for ten years was a dancer, studying several different styles. After a stint in her brother's band, Sigrid turned her hand to songwriting and launched her solo career in October 2013 at the tender age of 16 with the single "Sun," which saw her featured on NRK's (Norwegian state television) hip tastemaker show Urørt (Untouched). Two further singles, "Two Fish" and "Known You Forever," alongside spellbinding performances at several major European music festivals, sealed her reputation as a superbly talented songwriter and performer. With her rich, powerful, versatile voice and elfin good looks, she seemed ready-made for pop superstardom, and the ensuing bidding war finally saw her signed to Island. She delivered on the promise with her epic, anthemic debut single for the label, "Don't Kill My Vibe," released in February 2017. Co-written and produced by Martin Sjølie (Ella Henderson, Sam Smith), it was unveiled with much fanfare on BBC Radio 1, becoming their "Hottest Record in the World," and immediately racked up millions of plays on streaming services. The equally successful single "Strangers" followed that November. - iTunes _______________________________________________________________ Top 100 Chart History 2017 62 Don't Kill My Vibe -1- 2018 10 Strangers -2- 2018 59 High Five -1*- 2019 13 Don't Feel Like Crying -3- _______________________________________________________________ Social Media Sigrid http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png
April 19, 20197 yr Oh Sigrid what happened to you :( I loved 'Plot Twist' but this is so incredibly dull. She can stay for being a cat person though.
April 19, 20197 yr All Day and Night is definitely one of the best hits around at the moment, hope it keeps climbing!

April 19, 20197 yr I don't know what to make of this  I guess the lyrics are quite amusing in an 'Advice' kind of way
April 19, 20197 yr Top Albums : 1 BTS - MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA * 2 Billie Eilish - WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? 3 Motion Picture Cast Recording - The Greatest Showman 4 The Chemical Brothers - No Geography * 5 Tom Walker - What a Time to Be Alive
April 19, 20197 yr Glad to see The Chemical Brothers' album did manage to stay ahead of Tom Walker! #4 is a little lower than I hoped it'd be but still not tooooo terrible for a dance act who don't get hit singles any more. WD BTS x 'Your Mrs' still top 20 *.
