Posted April 28, 20196 yr Thronecast presenter apparently said the Battle of Winterfell makes the Red Wedding look like a tea party. Christ. -x- edit by Klaus: beware SPOILERS are ALLOWED after episode has aired (e.g. 2am UK time)
April 28, 20196 yr I've never been so hyped for an episode of a TV show but I'm also incredibly nervous!!!! The fact this is going to be the longest filmed battle scene ever as well. I'm expecting an EPISODE!!
April 28, 20196 yr Well there’s still A LOT of superfluous characters (narratively speaking) floating around so they were always going to fall at some point. I’m HOPING and PRAYING we see the end of the twat formerly known as Bran this week, I was never a fan but now it’s just TEDIOUS.
April 28, 20196 yr The White Walkers will have taken over and Bran will still be there saying something pretentious and not doing much else otherwise
April 28, 20196 yr I won't be able to watch this until tomorrow evening because of work so I'll be avoiding spoilers/this thread until tomorrow evening, I'm still not ready for the bloodshed.
April 28, 20196 yr I've seen some spoilers for Episode 6 unfortunately, which I think could be legit which means if they are true Davos, Brienne and Greyworm all make it.
April 28, 20196 yr Just a pointer to anyone reading this far after like 3am UK time: spoilers are ALLOWED for events of Episode 3 as soon as the episode has been broadcast. No need for spoiler tags after this time!
April 28, 20196 yr Just a pointer to anyone reading this far after like 3am UK time: spoilers are ALLOWED for events of Episode 3 as soon as the episode has been broadcast. No need for spoiler tags after this time! I'll be avoiding this thread for most of the day tomorrow! Can't wait to see it, I feel this will be the highlight of the season. The same director is also directing Episode 5, so you'd expect a huge fight sequence at some point to that episode as well.
April 28, 20196 yr I'm going to get up early to watch it to avoid having to dodge spoilers all day tomorrow
April 28, 20196 yr Author I have an awful feeling this is going to be the end for Brienne  I can see her dying in Jamie's arms
April 29, 20196 yr Ok so now the episode has been aired so SPOILERS AHEAD. This was a bit .. underwhelming wasn't it? I was expecting a whole lot more characters to bite the dust than actually did. I thought I was seeing so many of them dying loads of times but it didn't happen lol. I think all we lost (in terms of named characters) was: - Jorah Mormont - Melisandre - Eddison Tollett - Lyanna Mormont - Theon Greyjoy - Beric Dondarrion But here's a few further thoughts.. - Why send the unsullied charging into the night towards the darkness at the beginning and not just idk use the dragons? - Where was Ghost during all of this? We saw him charge the wights in the beginning but then no more. If he died that was a pretty lame-ass death for such an amazing direwolf. - Where was Gilly after the NK had been killed? Do we think she got killed in the crypts? It's possible since they were **GASP** not that safe after all. - What happened with Melisandre? That felt so strange and unnecessary lol. I know we knew her death was impending but that just felt completely avoidable. - That scene with Arya in the library ... I just about shat my pants watching that jfc - WHY DID NOBODY HAVE WEAPONS IN THE CRYPTS LIKE WTF?? - Lyanna Giantsbane! What an epic final scene ugh excuse me while I bawl my eyes out - Arya managing to glide past all of those wights without being detected in order to kill the NK seems highly improbable but I'll let it slide because AZOR AHAI??? OMG I LOVE YOU <3 - Can't wait for Jon, Dany and their 25 remaining soldiers to face Cersei and her 10.000 (?) soldier army <3 at least she doesn't have elephants lol Edited April 29, 20196 yr by cantthinkofaname
April 29, 20196 yr Ok spoiler from the preview for E04 in regards to one of my thougts: Ghost is apparently alive yay <3
April 29, 20196 yr I was tense that whole episode. Had to keep pausing to take stock of what was happening and who'd just died. From Edd at the beginning right up until Jorah at the end that battle was a confusing, anarchic mess of bodies and death. As it should have been. It wasn't quite HUGE carnage but it certainly did damage to our character toll, I don't think you could kill many more without it being truly nihilistic. And I suppose that one of the three tension points had to have been defeated, meaning it is now Cersei as the final antagonist. Definitely mourning Edd, Theon and Lyanna. I guess with Edd being the 999th commander the writing was on the wall for him, Theon did complete his character arc of defending his Stark home and Lyanna went out in such a badass way. Arya was a highlight throughout the whole episode. Her library scene, her heroic stick em with the pointy end, best parts overall.
April 29, 20196 yr Also yes, sending the Dothraki to charge in didn't make much LOGICAL sense (that I can think of, unless it was to try and locate the dead) but it served so well as an 'oh shit they are actually here' moment.
April 29, 20196 yr Arya stole the show throughout. Her scenes in the library were frigging incredible and then her being the one to take down the Night King...I knew she was planning something big the moment Melisandre had that scene with her about killing a lot of blue eyes as well. I guess that makes Arya the Prince That Was Promised?!?! As soon as Melisandre returned, it was clear she would be instrumental to putting the events in place for the living to win. Lyanna's final scene with the giant omg!! I feel like there's so much to process from this episode! I wouldn't say it was underwhelming, it was truly edge of your seat stuff where every major character was in serious danger at some point. At this point, it does kinda feel like Dany has no army left? What on earth is she going to fight Cersei with? One dragon and hope Jon comes through with the remaining Northmen for her?
April 29, 20196 yr RIP Eddison Tollett Jorah Mormont Lyanna Mormont Melisandre Viserion Theon Greyjoy Beric Dondarrion Qhono (leader of Dothraki) ~ House Mormont The Nights Watch Half of the 'good' Ironborn Dothraki Unsullied Also the majority of the Dothraki are now dead aside from the few left on Dragonstone. A bit of a strange military tactic but a HUGE "oh f***" moment when 1) Melisandre lights their swords and 2) when all their fires go out within seconds of reaching the AOTD. I thought Jorah had died when he charged with them too but I'm glad he didn't. My jaw dropped at the initial fight and tbh I've only just closed my mouth again this was an amazing episode. The dragon battle, Arya being Arya, the Dothraki charge, the wights making a body bridge over the trenches, Lyanna killing the giant, Drogon being overrun with wights leaving Dany to fend for herself, The Hound and Beric teaming up with Arya, the very predictable but still horrifying crypt scene, Night King raising the recently killed, Bran f***ing off to play GoPro GoCrow while like 8 Ironborn defend him, Jaime/Brienne/Tormund/Sam/Greyworm escaping death so so so many times. I was NOT expecting this to be over so soon though. Yes there are only 3 episodes left but I lowkey thought this whole season would be dedicated to the fight against the Night King and Cersei somewhere in the middle. I guess setting it so we have 3 episodes on the Battle of Winterfell, 2 episodes on the Last War, and 1 episode as a kind of prologue works too. Obviously it won't be a solid last episode of "where are they now?'s but the last 45 minutes will definitley be post-Cersei at least. I'm very glad from the teaser that Dany is now liked by The North, as without her as Missandei said the war would have already been lost long ago. She brought the Dragons, the Dothraki, the Unsullied, all of who have sacrificed themselves to save humankind. The Dothraki are basically all gone but definitely will have put a dint in the wight army, and the Unsullied were just brilliant the entire way through. I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone regroups next week Arya of House Stark, Protector of The North and Savior of the Seven Kingdoms and The World  I have no theories for next week tbh, I was right about like half the things I said last week but I have no clue anymore. April 29, 20196 yr That episode was....amazing. I was tense throughout, not quite knowing if someone had just died or not. I swear I thought Brienne died like 4 times throughout the episode and thought a lot of other characters were pretty much RIP as well. The battles scenes were epic and the dragons flying above the clouds was breathtaking. I was glad to see Melisandre do some good before her end. I was hoping she would turn around to reveal her true self to Davos first so he could fully see her for what she was. Although I suspect he will see her dead body in the next episode. Arya was the true highlight of the episode for me. Her fight scenes were great and the library scene excellent. When she came flying out at the end and the Night King caught her I was sure she was dead. When she actually killed him I literally couldn't believe it.... I felt a massive amount of relief to see just how many characters were able to survive the battle. The one thing I am disappointed about is that Cersei will not face the Night King or the army of the dead. And given that she won't be, I see why so many of the main characters were left alive - as they'll be needed to face Cersei and her army in the future episodes.
