I hope we get sales break downs of the formats for week 1.

I think we will - they done it with ‘Golden’ and we have more versions this time. Will be interesting to see how the cassettes have sold as I think the novelty factor is fast wearing off.

Golden captured the novelty of the cassette release and i don't predict the Greatest Hits cassette becoming anywhere near as popular.

No where near as popular, with cassettes people are buying them just for the collection and most arent even playing them or opening them. Least with vinyl I think most people are playing them a couple of times. I also love the smell of vinyl.

On about smells, I'm just recalling a memory of madonna's like a prayer album as my sister bought it as she was a big fan but there was gimmick where the inlay card was scented and I clearly remember my sister always smelling it. Looking back it was prob some marketing plug with payment with a perfume company.

I bought multiples of each of the ‘Golden’ cassettes (Yellow Spools, Black Spools, Signed, Gold Version, Silver Version) - all remained sealed and unplayed for my collection. For the GH I ‘only’ bought one of each colour. I’m over the cassettes now

“The packaging on the first pressings of the CD, cassette, and LP were scented with patchouli oils to simulate church incense. A publicist for Warner Bros. Records revealed this had been the singer's idea; "She wanted to create a flavor of the 60's and the church. She wanted to create a sensual feeling you could hear and smell".”

The cassette is the novelty purchase and with Golden it had a appeal as it was the first big kylie cassette release for some time.

The Greatest Hits cassette didn't have the same appeal.

That was an interesting move by Madonna, i had never heard of this before.

Was this only done with the Like a Prayer album or was it part of the singles too?

Has anyone added further formats to their collection over the last few months?
The price has been reduced on some channels so you will probably pick it up at a good deal.
I have always said i would hold out until the price drops well down as cd3 isnt near strong enough for me to pay for the album again but at the same time i want it in my collection.
The release is very geared at the fans and those who like to have all the albums in the collection.
The definition of all is hard, while I have all her main releases and some of the extras, i dont have all the various formats of each release.

I waited until it went to £7.99 before buying and I always usually buy day of release.
