What is everyone’s predictions for opening week?

So far we’ve had a single release and Graham Norton and R2 promo - I’m sure Kylie will have other promotional slots in the run up to release. Then we of course have Glastonbury, Brighton Pride and the Summer tour so I’m hoping this will be a consistent seller.

Formats confirmed -

Picture Disc Vinyl

Standard Vinyl

Amazon Exclusive - Mint Vinyl

Standard CD

Deluxe CD

5 x Cassettes

So 10 copies for fans to potentially multi buy for week 1.

Golden opened with 48,032 (Including 6,400 vinyl and 2,600 cassettes).

Other Greatest Hits opening week information is hard to come by (I’m sure someone will have it though!) -

Abbey Road Sessions - 37,556

The Best Of Kylie Minogue - 9,703

I really think/hope it’ll be #1 - the fact this is being released at the exact time of her Glastonbury performance means it could get some amazing sales as there will be mass media coverage.

Like others have said I think the album will have longevity - Dolly Parton released her album to conincide with Glastonbury and it hung around for ages and peaked several weeks later (6-6-7-4-3-3-2-2-2-3-7-10).

Other headline acts have had massive boosts for their albums and back catalogue when performing at Glastonbury. Kylie will really benefit from being in the public eye for a prolonged period over summer and I’m sure she will have other promotion lined up plus there is a ‘good feeling’ element to this release - 30 years in the business etc.,

Why are the options so high ? even at her peak she couldn't do those

I’d be surprised if it opened with less than 25k but that option is there... considering her last album almost achieved 50k in sales opening week, she currently doesn’t have a full GH available and this is released the week of her Glastonbury performance what is your prediction if the above is too high?

I went for 26k - 50k, I just think anything more would be amazing but so unrealistic, no tv performances, no promo other than the live shows, it may have longevity but opening weeks figures just seems so far out there

Not sure I agree with the no promo part - Glastonbury is televised and the average audiences from the past few years is between 18-20 million for the headline set http://www.musicweek.com/media/read/bbc-co...n-people/068948

There will also be heavy media coverage of her performance and she may have some pre-recorded TV performances etc., at the same time. I’m expecting a minimum opening of 50k but Kylie always seems to surprise, also this is the type of album that will be stocked everywhere so will help with impulse sales. The fact that her Glastonbury performance and fan base sales all happen in week 1 is maybe why my expectations are higher.

And those figures were mainly from the headline Ed Sheeran, not for the Legends slot Kylie is on. Also, that's total overall with all the slots added together, the individual acts averaged from 1-4 million on different channels. Don't get me wrong, I hope I am proved wrong I really do.

The main competition for #1 that week will be The Black Keys' Let's Rock.

They’ve been getting stronger with each release in terms of sales and chart positions so will be a strong challenger.

9 votes for entering at #1 and selling between 26-50k - let’s hope we’re all correct!

I hope so as I'd love another number 1.

If it happens she’ll be in the Top 10 at #10 for most UK #1 albums :w00t:

She did with Fever!

I think around 30k and hopefully #1. Although that depends on competition at the time.

That would be great and hopefully she can get another number 1 in the future.
