Impossible Princess earned Kylie musical respect from areas that previously overlooked her.

The album showed how versatile Kylie is and really highlighted her total lack of fear in experimenting.

Like others, i agree it is a very important album from Kylie, but it signaled she had hit a crossroads in her career and led her to her return to pop where her fans by large wanted her.

Agreed! Before the Deconstruction era Kylie's music wasn't unique to her. It was the SAW sound. After IP, everything she's done has her own personal stamp on it.

DeConstruction for all is flaws helped Kylie find herself and as you say helped her put her own personal stamp on all her output from then to now.

After leaving PWL Kylie really developed as an artist.

That said, i do think Kylie also developed during her PWL time as both Rhythm of Love and Lets Get To It also show.

PWL provided Kylie with the tools to start her music career and they did that excellently.

For Kylie to sustain the career she has, leaving PWL for Deconstruction was a wise choice.

IWGC clearly buoyed up by a pretty amazing cover photo. So much more personality in that one shot than in the whole of the video!

"This video is an abstract look at pedestrian life and how we're all just trying to get through and rise above everyday challenges. Although the song talks about a real life event that happened the day I recorded the song with Pharrell, the video has a more conceptual approach and I love how surreal it looks. I found myself almost directing traffic and it made me think about how we're all just trying to negotiate our way through day to day life." - Kylie Minogue

Iconic.

Pharrell is so hit and miss but the misses have this strange habit of starting off alright and then slowly grind you down until you just can't bare them. That's how it feels like with 'I Was Gonna Cancel' - I can make it to the first "Go! Go! Go!" bits and then I just have to turn off. The song is so cluttered and loud and just grates so much. I think it has to be my least favourite Kylie song.

I was gonna Cancel only ever got released due to Pharrels popularity but there is no taken away it was a huge mistake.

Kiss Me Once overall had very little to offer but Les Sex , If Only and a Million Miles would have made a much better single.

I dont think it had "single" vibe at all.

That said, i dont like the song in general.

I'm not a great fan, I think the summery production masks some pretty terrible lyrics and even the production is basic. It just has that "feel good" vibe to it which I think could have made it appealing to radio.

I have no doubt whichever song was selected would not have become a big hit but believe a better single choice would have performed slightly better.

As a fan i would have preferred a single i could genuinely support and not just support due to the artists name attached to it.

Crystalize, i thought was fabulous and performed much better than i thought it ever would considering it never got much of a push or support.

Yeah I don't think anything would have been a big hit but a better single choice probably could have gone Top 40 and help sell the album. I think the bad reception of I Was Gonna Cancel just stopped the era dead.

Would have been lovely to see Crystallize get a push. I don't understand why some charity releases are just released with no intention of supporting them when surely the whole point is raise as much money as possible!

Crystalize had potential to do much better if pushed.

Yes, a charity single is to raise money so the more the song is pushed the more money made is what i would expect the approach to be.

Crystalize would have helped get some interest into the album, much more so than I Was Gonna Cancel.

The only reason 'IWGC' got picked as a single was because of Pharrell's name attached to it, otherwise it would have stayed on the album and the even worse 'Beautiful' would have probably got released instead, which would have bombed just as hard. The video makes the ultimate sin, Kylie fails to stand out from the crowd, now that's incompetent.

My 'Kiss Me Once' run = 'Into The Blue' > 'Les Sex' >' Mr President' > 'Kiss Me Once'

Not saying this would have done any better, or scored anymore hits post lead, but in my opinion, this would have been a much better run, than the MEH we got.
'Word Is Out' - This has never been one of my faves, always found it a really weak lead single, its chart performance proves it and will always be that one that broke her run of top 10 hits (which couldn't have went on forever anyway, despite how much we all wanted it to). Maybe a stronger lead single could have continued this run 'Too Much of A Good Thing', would have been my choice, and kept the further singles as they already were.

Les Sex :puke2:

I actually really like Beautiful and would have love it to have been a single.

I love Word is out and don't understand why its so disliked, perfect first single for me but yes "Too Much of A Good Thing" should have been a single too
