She deserves a New Rules smash with a video as wonderful as this

'New Rules' is what came to my mind when I saw the video. It's not a copycat like 'Don't Call Me Up' was but it does feel like 'New Rules' has sent a trend, which I'm happy about.

The song is such an earworm! This and 'Win Win' should be huge. :(

What a video! What a song!

She deserves to smash with this but she won't even dent the Top 100. Pop girlies have such a hard time in this chart climate :(.

the only comparison with 'new rules' this video has is using the song to direct a narrative (having the friend mouth the backing vocals)... otherwise it's completely different. 'New rules' was a bunch of girls dancing around a house with synchronised dance... tove is literally travelling around the world, ends up in jail, throws a goldish bowl on a robber...

Yeah, that's the similarity I was making.

My comparison was more about when a good pop is completely elevated by an incredible music video — New Rules became New Rules as soon as that video dropped, and I feel the same way about this.

I mean, to be fair, she's not had a hit of her own since Talking Body which was 4 years ago now, or a hit of any sort really since Close which was 3 years ago! Radio's not shown her any attention since Cool Girl, also 3 years ago. It was going to be an uphill struggle from day 1 for this to get any support. I love the song and I really hope it does well, but I don't think it's anything to do with pop girlies having a hard time (especially when we've got Ariana breaking records, and the likes of Dua, Anne-Marie, P!nk, Billie, Taylor, Katy etc all slaying).

aaanyway this masterpiece is up to #621 on iTunes (+61)!!

EDIT: Not in the top 200 on Spotify :(

Anne-Marie is kind of the worst example of pop music.

That may be the case but my point is to do with chart success. She has done extremely well and even if you don't like her, it's not hard to recognise that! (Obviously easy for me as I love Anne-Marie)

I'm still loving this song anyway so I really hope it can defy the odds but I'm not remotely shocked at the lack of support thus far.

"Perfect to Me" failing to make the top 40 was truly one of the chart highlights of last year!

What a cracking video, I just thought I'd click on it but it kept me watching right to the end, the song is ok.

i do not get the anne-marie hate... she's a lovely girl, makes great music and has done super well..

sure; when i first saw her live, i saw her as more of a lily allen / adele type artist but she's transitioned and made herself her own kind of artist and that's great. 'perfect to me' did okay considering it didnt really have a music video.

I'd really love for this to make a splash, I'm hoping if it gains traction on US radio it could be a route to that happening.
