On social media Arianators have been pushing for a 'Put Your Hearts Up' streaming party starting today and continuing for the next week, in an attempt to get it charting on the Billboard Hot 100, just for amusing purposes as Ariana has disowned the song - going as far as branding the video shoot "the worst day of my life" due to the whole thing feeling inauthentic to her. I guess the fanbase is bored waiting for a new single :kink: As for 'Put Your Hearts Up', it was released as her debut single way back in 2011 when she was still featuring on the Nickelodeon show 'Victorious'. It's a far cry from her sound nowadays, instead being a lot more of a bubblegum pop offering. The song features an interpolation of 'What's Up?' by 4 Non Blondes.

So, what do you think of the song? Do you dislike it as much as Ari herself or are you actually fond of it? Are you glad she didn't go down the bubblegum pop route in general?

I don't think the song is actually that bad for what it is and I definitely would've been into it when I was a tween, but it would be very low down if I was ranking her singles now. Possibly only above 'Focus'. I'm glad she changed her lane to more Mariah-esque R&B straight after this, it immediately felt more authentic. But I think she was truly finding her sound from album 2 onward, the material felt a lot less copycat (as much as I loved 'The Way') and instead she was carving her own sound and cementing herself as a global pop-star.

The spray tan in the video was... a look :kink: can see why Ari wasn't a fan of the way she was styled.

 It's very very cheesy and tbh I don't think it's one to be taken seriously in Ariana's discography. Still remember a bit of promo for it at the time though, I used to love watching Victorious! :D

I quite enjoyed it at the time, it's not baaaad but obviously she's bettered it time and time again.

I feel this way too.

That song though I feel would’ve been perfect for Little Mix!

Like in their debut like era. I feel as though the songs more suited for a group tbh I can just imagine LM doing this (like the straight out of X Factor Little Mix).

I just rediscovered this.

I get such a odd feeling watching this music video now and thinking of what Ariana is now! I still don’t think the song itself

Is bad though it just had an awful video and the tan is a bit like a joke.

I’ll never not hear / picture LM in this song and video though. If there ever was a perfect song for a girl groups debut album this is it!

Happy 10 year anniversary to this song that Ariana would rather forget :kink:

I don't think I actually heard it when it was first released but I was on a site with someone who had the username PutYourHeartsUp so I was aware of its existence
