I never see her work with Towa Tei mentioned very much but I absolutely LOVE both the tracks - IP is my favourite Kylie album and both of these both fit perfectly into that era for me.

GBI reached #63 in the UK - I’m often surprised that it managed to chart at all off the back of the underperforming IP era and the fact it’s not the most radio friendly song but I guess the lower sales at the end of the 90s added to the fact it was released on multiple formats helped.

Somewhere Samurai had a music video recorded (minus any appearance from Kylie but she did make a video for the X tour) but that’s as far as it went - Kylie re-recorded her vocals in 2003 and it was used on a Mayonnaise commercial in Japan

Anyway what does everyone think of this partnership? Love them, hate them, indifferent?!

I love both, I even remember buying the GBI single when it was released
'GBI' is fantastic. So wacky!

Good song description, again songs like this need to be added to a rarities and b sides kylie album.

Not that I'd like it but if such a release was released as download only how do you think it would do? Or if kylie done a download only album in general. I know most of us are fans of the phyisical so I just wondered how an album would do for kylie on download only format and streaming.

Would love it in any format tbh. It wouldn’t trouble the charts but that wouldn’t be the aim anyway.

I wish Kylie would do what Robbie does with his ‘Under The Radar’ collections - CD releases of rare, live, unreleased etc., songs sold via his official website.

It would be good if Kylie did that as its works good and Robbie fans enjoy it.

That said, i would not be in favour of download only releases, i don't see the a major difference in download and for example listening on youtube.

I like to have the physical of an album as i feel i have more ownership and buy in as a fan.

A large percentage of Kylie's fanbase still want physicals including CD singles, vinyls etc.
Def so and the fans want them. I still think if she released a CD and vinyl version of her next lead single that she could get another top 40 hit.

I could never find any redeeming features for 'GBI' but, for some reason, it's hit me this past year and I actually really like it!

Very wacky indeed but it gets proper ingrained in your head!

The "wacky" element is what made the song catchy.

The chorus inparticular has a great hook to make the song memorable.

I only bought Towa Tei's album because of Kylie. There are some albums I only bought because Kylie's on it, Nick Cave or Pet Shop Boys for example.

As i see the mention of The Pet Shop Boys i am reminded of another missed opportunity.

In Denial truly should have made it to a single.

Absolute stunning duet that was superb when Kylie performed it on her own tour.

I absolutely love it too but didn’t at the time. I have the CD singles but I wish this was on streaming - one of Kylie’s few omissions and odd they have ‘Somewhere Samurai’ on there but not GBI.

I love ‘In Denial’ SO much and even though in chart/sales terms both Kylie and PSB were declining at the time I think ‘In Denial’ could have easily gone Top 15+
