The girls instagram account, on that post posted above, mention it’s a little something to their fans for waiting for them. Don’t think there’s any expectation at all of a chart hit.

I don't think they're attempting to get a hit either out of it, but at the same time it's perfect for them to dip their toes into the water and at the same time see how a Sugababes track might perform on things like streaming. Considering how the other two tracks released from this project performed, there's really no question that this is selling on the merit of being a Sugababes track and not thanks to DJ Spoony right now.

It's already #25 on iTunes, so it feels like it should be able to reach the top ten which would be great exposure for them (yes, I know iTunes sales are low etc).

I completely agree!!

Blowing even the two released tracks, who aren’t exactly unknown, out of the water is great. Proves to their label that the name still has that selling power and that with a proper release and campaign they can still be a commercially viable act a decade (or two in the case of 1.0!) on

I mean, considering this was literally the Sugababes a decade ago:

... it's sort of amazing to think that they're back and will give a great performance on Graham Norton.

About a Girl really is a fantastic pop song though so it's not like they were terrible then.

It was actually interesting how both 4.0 singles were in the recent Sugababes Top 20 biggest sellers list aswell.

I wonder if Flowers will be a one off like Flatline was?

I like 'About a Girl' but it's not a song that lends itself well to a live performance, at least not in the GMTV one where they've tried to put the vocal at the forefront by turning down the music itself. Vocals and harmonies are what Sugababes are known for but that's not something that can be shown off on a track like 'About a Girl'. It also sounds too much like Girls Aloud or The Saturdays, which is not a bad thing in itself of course, I love both those groups, but it's not what I want from the Sugababes.

I get that with each new line-up, there's naturally going to be a development in sound but I don't think they did it well with 4.0. I also thought Amelle was wrong as being pushed as the 'face' of the group, but then Heidi isn't strong enough of a personality to fit that role either.

i feel bad about Heidi tho, she was okay and kinda iconic. got in with the wrong crowd kind of situation~

About A Girl is one of their best, but I prefer the Keisha version over Jade.

Anyway, "Flowers" is a cute bop, very faithful to the original. I could see them having originally sung this back in 2000, their debut had some 2step influence for sure

You make it sound like she joined a shady gang.

Heidi always gets a hard time. To me, she is as much of a Sugababe as the original three; as far as most of the public are concerned, 2.0 were the Sugababes.

Mutya and Keisha were always another level of singing to her but she sang to her strengths ('Stronger' at Rock in Rio aside lol). Heidi middle 8s were always my favourite parts.

Heidi does get a bad time with a lot of Sugababes fans but mainly because she continued without Keisha more than anything. At the end of the day there was obvious tension in the group and Keisha definitely contributed to that in a huge way so I can understand her backing Amelle who had been a member for a good few years by this point. I just wish she had stuck by Keisha and Mutya had come back would have been so interesting to see their route had they done this. I like Siobhán think her solo stuff is actually quite good but for me (and most of the general public) the ultimate line up is Mutya, Keisha, Heidi. That’s when they released their best material and Heidi softened the group slightly in a way Siobhán never did.

I feel Heidi gave them a commercial touch with her image and personality. She counter balanced the moody dark edge of the three originals.

The singles went up a notch aswell which was needed for them to succeed.

mirror mirror on the wall who's the whitest/blondest of them all

Siobhan has improved every 2.0 song that’s she’s touched so far. I adore 2.0 and Three is my favourite album of all time, however Heidi is weak live and when you hear it live, the 1.0 Three part harmony is earth shattering in a way no other band can touch. The replacements all blended nicely and 2.0 is a very worthy runner up but 1.0 were meant to sing together you can’t manufacture or replace that natural blend and chemistry.

I hate how the commercial success is pinned on Heidi. Her being a smiling blonde is irrelevant when you come back with a song as good as Freak. Had Siobhan stayed, as long as they switched to Island I believe there would have been no difference in their commercial success

Great performance I thought! They know each other's voices so well and know their own individual talents which makes them work together so well.

Was a bit disappointed there was no deal made out of them getting their name back. Graham didn't even mention them as a guest at the start of the show. It was also annoying that we pretty much got the same sort of "we're working on music that'll be out soon" comment but at least they confirmed there would be something special for their 20 year anniversary. I'm also pretty sure we will be getting new music, it was just the way the "soon" comment has become a running joke!

They were soooooooooo good!!!! 😍😍😍 harmonies absolutely on point!!!

Wasn’t expecting anything out of the interview, they’re not there to promote themselves really, it’s about Garage Classical and that just happens to be the best track by a landslide on it. And probably sort of it’s main selling point...

Nice to have the second half of the rumours from the summer confirmed. We’re getting some fan service next year and they will be marking the 20th anniversary with something special for us. Love it.

I’m sure we’re gonna get more detail and more celebrating of the return of the name over 2020 when they come to reveal their plans and so they don’t overshadow this project.

aka sugababes 4.0

But let's not drag Jade into this, she is fantastically talented and was given a fabulous opportunity. She didn't even know which member she was replacing, she even said she was convinced it was Amelle who left.

I don't think Sugababes got much chart action when Flatline was released? I guess them having the name back will be helping the back catalog. Nice to see One Touch getting two sales, lol.
