My only feeling about the celebrations is that I hope one of the fireworks hits Garage in the puss.

Absolutely vile. Imagine celebrating stripping rights from millions of people and making everyone worse off. It’s callous, crass and wholly tasteless. And I swear to god if Big Ben chimes for it we will be a global laughing stock for the last 30 years of earths habitability before climate change kills us all

Leaving the obvious question of why the government opposed an amendment designed to secure access to Erasmus. Some people might think Johnson could be lying. Again.

What on earth makes you think he would lie? :D

While the Remain side would be a model of decorum if they'd prevailed? Somehow I doubt it...

While we're at it, can you name what Rights we've actually been stripped of?

Yeah because life would have continued as per normal.

I can!! I live in the capital city of Germany and at this exact moment in time I have the legal right to stay for the rest of my life with no more paperwork than a simple registration form (all residents in Germany including Germans have to register their address at their city hall). Come the 1st of February I no longer have that right.

Additionally, I have lost visa free and preferential access rights to the Schengen area making it more complex for me to travel for work and for leisure.

For *Remainers*, perhaps...

OK, fair points, and presumably you voted to Remain on that basis, and other issues.

The way Michael says it though, you'd think the gov't will be abolishing Human Rights, and setting up concentration camps.

Oh honey, if this is the way the things are going, this is no longer an unachievable reality for you guys there.

Press is a very powerful tool and they can make anyone gullible (ca. 100% of Leavers) believe anything including that they are better off without those pesky unnecessary things like basic human rights. This worked with Brexshit so why wouldn't it work with anything else - you just have to cover the real agenda up and lie your ass off.

Am very sorry to hear that. :(

As for the freedom to travel/work within the EU, I never had that right so I can relate and sympathise what you will have to go through. Something tells me that the absolute majority of the population doesn't realise this will happen to them.

But I still think you will be able to travel (for leisure only) to the Schengen area without any visas up to 90 days within each 6 months? As for work, you'll have to apply for a special visa. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I guess it is likely those procedures will be put in place for tourism, though I imagine it will slow down airport queues at the least.

Work is the big one. It depends on the deal that is hammered out and I can't see it being too favourable to people wanting to take the opportunity to move elsewhere within Europe. Visa-free right to work is one of the most valuable deals a country can have with another.

Obviously I'm actually on a visa right now, but that was, if not easy, not too difficult to get because the country I'm living in wants me here. Still a horrible amount of stress though. Visas do cause that, though it's worth it to be able to live somewhere other than the country you happened to be born in. Now, EU27 will now hire from any of the others before they hire outside. Far less worry for everyone within the EU, who can live anywhere they choose. I have British friends and family working across the EU. Will they get to stay, or will they lose their jobs as a result?

Half of them probably have their holidays in Beefa, Spain and Greece and will complain about the endless extra passport checks in order

Work visas is the only option for the countries outside of EU who want to move there. And for that you have to be exceptionally qualified as they have to conduct a search within the EU (in some countries it's against the law) before actually hiring someone from the outside.

This MIGHT mean that the Brits' level of education increases a bit who knows~ Because you can't just go abroad and work as a barista or some common manager.

Closing the door to EU immigrants does mean that you also get to stay on the other side of that door, Karen~

While we're at it, can you name what Rights we've actually been stripped of?

1. Human rights. The gutter Murdoch press have attacked this since 1998. They are obsessed with it. Their Tories will dutifully scrap it, like promised

2. Worker rights and minimum wage, both set to be scrapped as promised by tories

3. Right to live, work and retire across the continent

4. Our access to European justice

5. Visa-free travel

6. Tory attacks on science and education limiting opportunity even more

7. Freedom from European conflict

Brexshit is gross.

1. The most the Tories will do is replace it with one not so easily exploited by criminals.

2. This is simply untrue

3. Again, false - it will merely be more difficult.

4. We have a perfectly good legal system of our own.

5. I'll give you that one

6. What evidence do you have for that?

7. The EU can't guarantee that - no one can!

You are wrong on every single point. Sorry.

1. Wrooong!!! They have attacked the human rights act continuously. If you think evil tories care about us having rights, you are on another planet. They are gone, and will be replaced by some bare-bones thing easily exploitable by this far right government. Greenpeace is on the Bojo terrorism list btw.

2. You are simply wrong.

3. We no longer have the RIGHT. It is a righr we are LOSING, which is what YOU asked.

4. Do we? Do we? I trust Eurppe far more than our tory elite.

5. Good

6. The government's own words and the science and education communities' own assessments

7. The EU won a peace prize lol.

There would have been no change for Remainers, Leavers and Non-voters alike. How you voted has no impact on if there would be any changes or not

That and a myriad of other reasons, but mainly being able to live and work in the country I was born in.

Am very sorry to hear that. :(

It's a direct consequence of your actions so apology not accepted.

Appreciate the solidarity. Think there will be some shocks at border control at Benidorm in 2021.

I think you're right but the problem is that at the moment the rules aren't known yet and a lot of it will depend on what the UK will do to EU nationals. I'm still waiting to find out what visa/residency things I am eligible for here in Germany and then what that allows me to do in terms of travel for work/leisure in the Schengen area :(

I agree, expanding horizons is priceless.

Bolded bit made me laugh a little as i'm going through this pain to live IN the country I happened to be born in
