Having never felt what it was like to have truly been oppressed as a people, the English believed that the cooperative experience of being within the EU was an oppression.

And as a consequence, for everyone British, we are now more vulnerable and alone in the world.

(my only word on the subject, I'm making an effort to avoid British politics for at least... a month or two)

Hahaha brillant!

Why do all those Brexit parties look like eccentric 18th century imperialist affairs or an episode of shameless depending on where they film from?
I thought this was a parody - Stacy and Tracy celebrate Leaving the EU -

Re Iz yeah it is very much people wanting to cosplay the victim isn't it. No different to middle class folk wanting to 'live like poor people' for a while as a fashion choice before going back to their comfortable lives.

They can’t understand why the people who wanted to remain fought them so passionately about it? Ugh they’re horrendous, couldn’t even answer the questions properly.

So you recognise that people have the wrong idea of what would happen?

Well he certainly has. :D

This is rich - you ask me & Chris not to be triumphalist in victory, and we have indeed been restrained.

I in return request that sour grapes like the above be toned down. I you can't do that, then I am afraid the gloves will come off...

Bring. It. On.

Brexshit can f*** OFF.

Look at those f***ing reasons why we left - and "We WoN AgAIn" - WRONG!! Bojo and Cummings gamed the syste. Remain parties got far more votes.

100% agreed with Iz. The English still hold onto a fantasy of world hegemony, of an empire, of being a super power, and so anything less than having control over other countries means oppression ironically.

Can't you do what the majority of us do and post without swearing Michael. It's not big it's not clever.

We'd be a stronger country if people like you didn't hate their own country.

We're not ComInG ToGEtHeR over this. You cannot take 100% of the power on a split vote, won by lies and misinformation and propaganda and manipulation - just look at those interviews - and then say BuT CoMe toGEtHeR. And it is a simple fact that the English were always in control and dominating some land or other. Like Iz said, a collaborative approach was entirely foreign, and so, knowing nothing different to a superiority complex, it became an oppression that only the unoppressed could imagine. Just look at the UK - English dominance over the rest, using its larger population in the brexshit referendum to force through what the English conservatives wanted. The tories have run election ads attacking Scottish "puppet masters" to drum terror and the spectre of collaboration in the UK, instead of English imperial dominance. Btw, this same narrow-sighted, 100% English control, no compromise narrative is exactly what ended British rule over the colonies. There is an endemic lack of representation and ability to listen to both sides in the British state since time immortal.

Can’t you do what the majority of us do and respond to challenges and back up your views? That actually would make you seem clever.

It’s because we love our country that we fought this. We don’t love our government, there’s a difference.

Michael, politicians today, even fervent Remainers, are saying on TV that we should all pull together as one nation now and forget being either Brexiteers or Remainers. If they can do it we all can, even you. We're out now and you don't have to like it even but just accept it with good grace and stop swearing about it.

f*** that!

They are just shitting saying it because of realpolitik and how it will be played by the hard right media!!!

WE WILL NOT COME TOGETHER WHEN YOU SEIZE 100% OF THE POWER ON A SPLIT VOTE, DON'T DO WHAT WAS PROMISED - SINGLE MARKET - WHEN THOSE LIES SWUNG IT FOR YOU, DEMONISE US, CALL US ENEMIES OF THE PEOPLE, ETC, MORE NAZI TACTICS EH, INSULT US EVERY STRP OF THE WAY, SHUT US OUT OF THE PROCESS, AND OFFER NO COMPROMISE!!!

Tell me: why the f*** should we CoMe ToGeTheR after all that?! No f***in way!

Brexshit = little right wing coup.

Some of us aren’t up for being told how to feel about something. We have been stripped of our rights without our consent and we still haven’t been given a decent explanation as to why. ‘Because it was voted for’ isn’t good enough.

Convincing people that the EU was a dictatorship and a state controlling us was not vrry democratic at all in thr first place either. Just look at thosw interviews, and those videos of protesters over the last two years screaming about us needing independence, to see that. Total manipulation. 51%. You got 51%. You got 2 nations. You got 20% youth support. If you wanted CoMe ToGeTheR in victory, you had to compromise and include us every step of the way and do what Norway did. I could have lived with that, but not with this.

It's the most divisive issue since the civil war. I literally don't talk to some people, incl family, over this. It's not going away just because you brexit lot tapped your ruby heels together last night and wished for the 1920s. "There's no place like Empire, there's no place like Empire" x

Also vidcapper, if "people like me" hated the country, we would have just let brexshit happen and cackle with glee - you, know, like Putin did. We fought it all the way though.

We'd be a stronger country if people like you didn't hate their own country.

Sayings like this one usually also accompanied by "if you don't like this country then leave" are extremely wrong. Criticising the government isn't the same as hating the country at all.

Blind patriotism is a very powerful and dangerous tool that governments use to silence any criticism.

People who criticise government are branded as haters and therefore terrorists. It's a slippery slope. Don't go down the Russia route huns

EU declares it's supporting Spain over Gibraltar, whereas before it was neutral. What a pickle! If only someone could have told us this was all going to happen...

Well, we already have the sham democracy like Russia and the rising nationalism. Wouldn't surprise me if we went the whole hog!

But *I'm* not the government!

But *I'm* not the government!

Neither is the press that called us traitors and attacked the judiciary :)

Anyone seen those fascists brexshit flyers put up in a tower block? Wow!
