NEW: There have been a massive 2.8m applications to #RegisterToVote since the election was called.

That's over a million more than the comparable pre-deadline period during the last election, which saw 1.7m applications

NEW: Two thirds (1.86m) of the 2.8m who've applied to #RegisterToVote so far this election campaign are under the age of 35

I see police have forced a driver to remove a "B**locks To Brexit" car sticker. :D

From BBC News:

Two anti-Brexit campaigners say they were pulled over on to the hard shoulder of the M25 and told by police to remove a slogan from their car.

Passenger Peter Cook said the officer was "extremely aggressive" towards them over the phrase "bollocks to Brexit".

"He said it [the slogan] was a public order offence, he insisted we remove the signage on the hard shoulder of the M25," said Mr Cook.

Essex Police said the force was trying to establish what happened.

Mr Cook said the officer stopped them on the motorway near Brentwood at 14:30 GMT on Sunday.

He said the policeman repeatedly shouted at him and the driver during the 40 minutes they were pulled over and "bullied" them into removing part of the slogan.

:nono: :nono:

If it´s because of the profanity then fair enough, but people should be able to air their view without police aggression. This isn´t

America yet.

This is really worrying.

And I see "Bollocks" isn´t even a profanity.

The driver is making a complaint to the police watchdog and Essex police are trying to identify the officer from the video.

Disgusting behavior from a law enforcer.

Was it a profanity in 1977 then? Many record stores including Woolworths refused to stock the Sex Pistols album Never Mind The Bollocks. Police were asking other smaller shops to remove it from their window displays.

It might have been removed but I think you´ll find in retrospect that it was ruled NOT a profanity.

Pretty sure a major political party wouldn´t have been able to get away with using it in their slogan if it was. ;)

Anyway THAT is not the issue here.

I just saw this on Twitter. It makes me sick to my stomach how nasty and full of hate some people in this country have become.

I mean, for F*** SAKE a 72 year old woman being attacked because of her political views?

This has got me infinitely more angry than any smear campaign or bias media ever could...this is just...I mean...

EDIT: My mistake, it was a woman.

Disgusting attack on a 72 year-old woman. Now they're going to have to do what the Jehovah's Witnesses do and go around in twos. Sad world we live in.

Seems to be escalating.

Several incidents now of assault, and of Labour Party supporters homes being targeted by thugs.

When will the “leader” of this country call out & condemn this bullying fascist behaviour? 😠

Had to smile at this. Have cousins in Penistone. (Pronounced PEN as in what you write with!)

Free fish and chips on offer if Brexit Party wins seats

Local official and takeaway owner said there would be free food if two Labour MPs lost in the December 12 election.

A local councillor in the U.K. offered free fish and chips if voters back the Brexit Party in two seats in Yorkshire.

David Wood, who sits on Penistone Town Council as an independent, posted the offer on the Facebook page for his takeaway, Woody's Fish and Chips.

The post, which has since been taken down, read: "Election Promise! Help Woody's to remove our two current Labour MPs from their seats in Westminster in favour of Jim Feguson [sic] for Barnsley East and Victoria Felton for Barnsley Central. Our promise to the electorate of Barnsley is to offer free Cod Bits & Chips to everyone that visits our shop on December the 13th in celebration of turfing Labour MP's [sic] out of Barnsley. You can count on us to deliver. Promise."

South Yorkshire Police told the BBC's Local Democracy Reporting Service they had received two complaints from members of the public about the offer, which appears to break the U.K.'s rules on "treating" — when a candidate or their agent offers a material incentive in exchange for a vote.

Wood told the BBC: "I can take the post down but I will be putting it back up the day after, when we win. No one has contacted me from the police. I am not associated with the Brexit Party, apart from helping the candidates. That is my treat to my customers after the Brexit Party win. If they don't win, they won't get it."

The Brexit party are still standing in Barnsley Central but Dan Jarvis has a huge majority so they won't unseat him.

Never? He's probably secretly loving it?

I'm sure he'll put out a weak feeble meaningless 'I'm so sorry to hear of xxx' statement soon with no value behind it.

So now you're saying that Boris condones violence? How much more crap has he to put up with?

Well he certainly has no issue with inciting it given his behaviour and language used in the commons specifically with the language such a 'traitor' as used in Jo Cox's murder. Which he didn't apologise for.

Re New voter registrations...

It's not the number of new registrations that surprise me, rather the fact that there were so many people not registered in the first place! :o

It's merely being consistent. Whenever there is an Islamist terrorist attack any Muslim who doesn't condemn it immediately is portrayed as if they condone it.

Unfortunately, this is not particularly surprising. Candidates (especially women) have been advised to be careful about publicising where they will be at any given time. It used to be possible for a candidate to announce in advance where they would be canvassing on a given evening. Now they have been advised not to.
