Lewis has said the song has hit 1 million streams in 12 hours (that'll be worldwide, but I imagine the majority will be UK and it's not even a full day!)

well at least we don't have to worry about us getting a 'fake' #1 if indeed Dance Monkey hits ACR next week, I guess.

Welp. Looks like I'm probably wrong about Lewis then, #6 in just 7 hours is pretty crazy. Here's hoping he can comprehensively crush Tones next week then xx (not heard the song but literally anything would be better than 'Dance Monkey').

 

The decision to release it on a Tuesday doesn't really make any sense. I don't think first week impact is important at all apart from for fairly niche artists who wouldn't be having big hits anyway so it's not exactly going to matter but a Tuesday release is like... going out of his way to minimise the first week impact :lol: Wednesday/Thursday I think makes sense as it gives a day or two for songs to become visible in time for their first full weeks but no idea what the argument would be for Tuesday. It means I got to see Tones dethroned from #1 on iTunes on my birthday though so that was fun at least. xx

Suppose the only problem with a Tuesday release is that it'll feel like it goes on ACR a week early if it does go onto ACR week 10.

Doubt it'll be number one into the new year though but can definitely see it getting there next week
