2nd Place - 183 Points

Cheryl Tweedy - Girls Aloud

our runner-up with 183 points, is ‘the nations sweetheart’ Cheryl Tweedy / Cole / Fernandez-Versini.

as a member of one of the countries biggest girl groups of all time, achieving more consecutive Top 10 singles than any other chart act, Cheryl became one of the most popular celebrities going - aided by her high profile marriage and eventual divorce from footballer Ashley Cole.

in 2008, Cheryl joined the judging panel of The X Factor - mentoring Alexandra Burke all the way to victory (followed by another victory with Joe McElderry the next year).

Cheryl began her solo career with the million selling single Fight For This Love, which was nominated for a BRIT award in 2010 - followed by a further 4 number one singles, which for a brief period made Cheryl the British female solo artist with the most UK Number 1 singles.

Cheryl may divide opinions, but love her or hate her... you’re all talking about her. plus, Cheryl guest judged on Series 1 of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK last year - and it produced some proper wholesome TV.

Girls Aloud Members Placings:

Cheryl Tweedy - 2nd

Nicola Roberts - 7th

Nadine Coyle - 8th

Sarah Harding - 24th

Kimberley Walsh - 25th

Emma Bunton- Spice Girls

Buzzjack’s Favourite Girl Group Member of All-Time, with 202 Points (19 clear of 2nd place)... it’s Baby Spice - Emma Bunton.

As a member of Spice Girls she helped sell over 80 million records - and is 1 of only 2 members to be a part of every incarnation of Spice Girls.

As a solo artist, Emma has scored 7 UK Top 10 Singles, including the Number 1 hit ‘What Took You So Long’.

In 2006, Bunton took place in the 4th Series of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing - and finished in 3rd Place. Since 2018 she has also served as the host of The Great American Baking Show.

Amongst all her musical and television ventures, Emma Bunton also found the time to present the Heart FM breakfast show from 2013 to 2018 - before leaving to prepare for The Spice World Stadium Tour & her first solo album in 13 years ‘My Happy Place’ - which peaked at Number 11 in the UK.

thanks so much everyone for taking part & voting - thinking of maybe doing it again next year and making it an annual thing? let me know if you think you’d enjoy that xo

I'm still lol'ing over Mollie King finishing as high as 4th!

But I really enjoyed this countdown! Thank you for running it!

Always thought Emma was a bit overrated, for me she's the most bland out of the Spice Girls. However I think she's great

Mollie King 4th????? The Saturdays were all devoid of any personality but Mollie was the blandest of the lot.

Emma a deserving winner, can be everything when needed, sassy and sexy in Holler but sweet in Mama. She is the Spice Girls.

I find it hilarious that you say Mollie is the blandest when she was clearly the Emma Bunton of The Saturdays

Ok I think you should apologise to Enma for that statement.

The only thing Emma and Mollie have in common is blonde hair. Firstly Emma can sing her voice is the underpinning of every Spice Gorls song, the only thing coming out of Mollie's mouth are teeth. Secondly Emma is sexy, she can easily pull off leading a guy about on a chain in black leather to Holler during the ROTSG tour, Mollie is not sexy. Thirdly Emma has stage presence, she can carry off a solo gig at the royal albert hall or hold the stage and the long note in 2 become 1 which was the moment of the 2019 tour, Mollie might as well not be on stage most of the time.

The closest any girl has come to Emma is Pierre from Little Mix.

Yeah Little Mix really went to pot as soon as Pierre left

Poor Pierre. He just couldn't take the pressure of being in an all-girl group. :(

But sammy's right - I wouldn't compare Emma to Mollie at all. Emma and Melanie C were basically the lead vocalists of the Spice Girls in that they often got to carry songs/choruses. Mollie was just happy to be in The Saturdays.

I find it hilarious that you say Mollie is the blandest when she was clearly the Emma Bunton of The Saturdays

So true

I find it hilarious that you say Mollie is the blandest when she was clearly the Emma Bunton of The Saturdays

Agreed totally

Deliver that TEA

Mollie being 4th is SENDING me. What do people see in her?!

Inoffensive.

Seriously, for whatever reason people tend to be drawn to the most basic inoffensive members of groups. I have no idea why since my taste tends to end up leaning towards messy members. :arrr:

I'm going to take a concerted step away from all the Mollie bashing here. The Saturdays were maybe not to every girl group fan's taste, but they were to this one, and the many others who voted her this high. And Mollie was the one member, as Michael pointed out in his write-up, that not only loved being in the group, but that also was a huge fan of all things pop.

I'll never forget on their last tour at Wembley her look of sheer elation that she was singing part of 'Baby One More Time' during the breakdown section on 'Disco Love'. To see someone who whole heartedly loves what they do and realising it is not something to be knocked in the slightest.

People can wibble on about VOCALS BBZ or MESSY PERSONALITIES LYK but at the end of the day, The Saturdays wouldn't have been half as fun as they were without her. She was more of a sweet natured vocalist and performer, true, but she also bought that giddy exuberance and - dare I say - self aware hilarity to the table that some of the other girls often lacked at times. Hence why she's now got a pretty fruitful career as a DJ on Radio 1, because she's managed to carry that across into another pop based venture too.

Anyway...back on topic. Very worthy winner in Emma, and a pretty stellar top 10 too! Thanks for this topic Michael.

I expected The Saturdays to do well on this but I have to admit I was puzzled Mollie was so high.

She’s likeable enough though.

I actually expected Beyoncé to walk it so I’m glad that didn’t happen. Was fully on Team Cheryl or Jade from LM to to get it for me though.
