Amazing to see the reaction to this.

There are new owners at PV which his Dad has tweeted about - I'm sure that had something to do with his decision.

So much positivity surrounding this and the difference he can make to his home town in terms of money, prestige and publicity.

Really hope I can get tickets. The love in the stadium will be immense.

Aw !! that's brilliant ...

I bet he will do a second date , surely !! :)

I thought first this was about a tribute act and then I saw all the tweets. This is a really great idea and the charities are so worth it

I have never seen such a string of positive tweets like for this homecoming gig for Robbie

There really does seem to be a level of excitement and appreciation for this gig from the charities and Port Vale supporters as well as Robbie fans.

I think it will be very special. ^_^

If ever you needed proof that his and Jonny's friendship is fractured - it's the complete Twitter silence from Jonny re this news. :(

Ten years ago they would have both been so excited together and celebrating a moment that means so much to them both. Jonny would have been apart of it. Probably up on stage with him.

It's such a shame. :(

Surely NOTHING can be worth the loss of such a friendship can it?

Let me guess!!, you can bet your bottom dollar the fall out was too do with money ( if there was a fall out ) , fair play Jonny has gone & done his own thing & is very successful at it , did it cause a problem  . Robbie used to be a patron of that performing school but now nothing !!...it's all speculation at the end of the day but but something happened .

Do you know looking at Guy & Robbie being interviewed together about TBITD it's the first time I have seen both of them completely relaxed during the interview , I think other parties being involved in the project has helped them greatly , they were working for somebody else for a change & I think they actually enjoyed themselves ....

I don't think I've ever seen Guy so excited about anything -he's such a quiet man. ^_^

Maybe he sees a whole new future opening up for them both? I could see it. They're a good combo and if they can capture the essence of a musical which it sounds like they have with the David Walliams book then who knows what the future could bring. After all - musical theatre is where RW started in Stoke on Trent pre TT.

So tempted to go to this! I'm from stoke and this is really close to where I grew up. I don't live there any more, and although I often go back to visit family, I'd feel like it was my homecoming too  But I've heard there are only 10k tickets available, I imagine they will be super expensive and I'm also hoping to get tickets to see Gerry Cinnamon too... plus my dad would NEVER speak to me again if I went to vale's ground
