I hope you’re right. The budget offered nothing to help everyday people like myself who are working and instead people will pay more tax, higher energy bills / council tax and a below inflation pay rise cap.

Will be interesting to see the poll numbers after the budget. Certainly looks like Labour's lead is pretty much cemented in and the public can see despite a new PM it's still the same government.

Plus the hard right who loved Truss' budget, including the right wing press, will lose enthusiasm for the Tories due to tax rises on high earners. As according to them they should pay even less.

Opinion poll on Peston yesterday had labour ahead by 21%.

It's a glorious sight to behold. I'd love to see these sort of polling data represented at the next election but I can't see it happening quite to the extent suggested at the moment.

Peston on Wednesday reported Labour had a 26 point lead in the polls. I suspect as we approach the next election, the figures will narrow somewhat but hopefully they will stay well ahead.

Voter ID could well have the final say.

Going to mean bloody Johnson back again as he can "connect" with some voters! What is this country reduced too...

I doubt it. Partygate scandal has caused way too much damage for him to return and I’m convinced there is going to be a lot more coming out of the woodworks yet about his lies.

Good luck with that.

SNP the official opposition. Make it happen!

Damn. I hope the conservatives never recover if they get thrashed that badly (I can only hope)!

Sunak was on the TV yesterday visiting Newcastle area doing an election campaign, where he spoke about potholes. He came across as desperate, disingenuous and completely out of touch. For most people, potholes seems to be the least of their worries right now particularly if you’re struggling to have enough food on your table or heat your home.

He’s also only 14 points behind now according to some polls. I said this from the start the Labour lead was always on a foundation of sand with a leader who flip flops to the right. The next election will be like 1992.

Aye with Sunak making slightly more saner decisions than Johnson/Truss (WTF is she doing giving speeches about how things should be, you failed!) on certain aspects of the economy/Brexit, there's not much between him and Starmer and I'd actually say that Sunak has slightly more personality than Starmer. All relative though.

I do think tactical voting may play a part though in aiding Labour more than usual.

Starmer comes across as weak and their current dirty campaign of showing adverts about Rishi Sunak is awful. However, having said all that, We badly need a change of government and people need to give labour a chance. Alternatively, we will be stuck with the same status quo who have no real policies that are going to address the problems we are facing and they will continue to drain funding of our public sector and the NHS will go completely down the drain.
