She was born and raised in the London Borough of Islington, London, where she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis achieved national recognition when she won the third series of The X Factor in 2006, winning a £1 million recording contract with Simon Cowell's record label, Syco Music. Her winner's single, a cover of Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This", peaked at number one for four weeks on the UK Singles Chart and it broke a world record for having 50,000 digital downloads within 30 minutes. In February 2007, Lewis signed a five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. Lewis's success continued with the release of her debut album, Spirit, in 2007; it went 10× platinum in the United Kingdom and became the fourth best selling album of the 2000s. The lead single, "Bleeding Love", spent seven weeks at number one. She achieved international recognition with the album in 2008 when it topped charts around the world. Spirit has sold more than eight million copies worldwide, and "Bleeding Love" peaked at number one in over 30 countries, becoming the best-selling single of 2008. As a result, she was proclaimed 'Top New Artist' by Billboard in 2008. Under the guidance of Cowell and Davis, Lewis released her second UK number-one album Echo and recorded the theme song for the film Avatar in 2009, while embarking on her first UK arena tour, The Labyrinth, in 2010. In 2011, Lewis released the non-album single "Collide", a collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii, and her first extended play, Hurt: The EP. Her third album, Glassheart, was released in 2012. It marked a new creative direction for Lewis, drawing inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. However, it failed to match the commercial performance of her two previous albums, peaking at number three on the UK Albums Chart and becoming her first to not be certified platinum. Lewis began to record material for her first Christmas album during her Glassheart Tour, which took place in mid 2013. Christmas, with Love was released later that year. Its lead single, "One More Sleep", peaked at number three in the UK. With this chart entry, Lewis became the first British female solo artist to achieve eight top 5 singles, surpassing Olivia Newton-John's record of seven. With a career starting in 2006, Lewis is the second best-selling act, behind One Direction, to have emerged from The X Factor franchise, having sold 20 million records worldwide. Lewis has won two MOBO Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, and two World Music Awards. She is also a six time Brit Awards and three time Grammy Award nominee. Lewis is known for her expansive four octave vocal range, power, technical control and, in particular, her frequent use of the falsetto register. Aside from her musical career, Lewis is a philanthropist and an animal welfare campaigner for World Animal Protection and is a supporter of other animal rights charities and organisations; she is also a vegetarian. In 2014, Lewis made her film debut in the supporting role of Elena in the romantic comedy musical, Walking on Sunshine. In 2016, Lewis made her Broadway debut as Grizabella in the revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Cats; she played the role from that July to October. - Wikipedia Top 100 Chart History 2006 01 A Moment Like This -1- 2007 01 Bleeding Love -2- MILLION SELLER 2007 46 Forgiveness -B-SIDE- 2007 25 Footprints In The Sand 2007 61 Whatever It Takes -AT- 2007 73 The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face -AT- 2007 97 Take A Bow -AT- 2008 02 Better In Time / Footprints In The Sand -3- 2008 05 Forgive Me -4- 2008 01 Run -5- MILLIONAIRE 2008 98 Misses Glass -AT- 2009 02 Happy -1- 2009 29 Stop Crying Your Heart Out -AT- 2010 14 I Got You -2- 2011 04 Collide (Leona Lewis & Avicii) -NAS- 2011 08 Hurt -EP- 2012 07 Trouble (feat. December 20, 20196 yr Pleased to see This Is Real hang on for another week, deserved a better peak! Would've much rather heard Wizzard than Slade just then :( Are Wizzard and Wham the biggest British Xmas songs in the US Riser?
December 20, 20196 yr Ahh a bit lower than I was hoping for Leona but at least she’ll go top 20 next week. good to see Trevor on the rise I think Falling will be a big top ten soon.
December 20, 20196 yr functions in a lane where acute songwriting and matured performance meet. His vast and detailed production accompanies his dense, yet concise style. Fitting any occasion, this diverse catalog is almost as ambiguous as its creator. - Spotify What does this even mean. Is he urban, dance or what

December 20, 20196 yr Is it me or are all the Christmas hits at lower positions this year then they were this time last year for 2018's equivalent chart?
December 20, 20196 yr Leona  My favourite 2010s Christmas song. Hope it's at least Top 15 next week.

December 20, 20196 yr Is it me or are all the Christmas hits at lower positions this year then they were this time last year for 2018's equivalent chart? You have to remember the weeks and days are not equilivant though. Most of the Xmas songs even out over December before another big rise in the chart next week.
December 20, 20196 yr Underneath The Tree, One More Sleep and Santa Tell Me are the holy trinity of modern Christmas bops! They're are definitely starting to grow in stature as christmas hits now. I only really started to know One More Sleep last year, and have literally only realised (from googling the lyrics) a couple of days ago that the song that goes "you're here what a wonderful day..." was in fact Kelly's Underneath The Tree, but the song seems to have had loads of airplay this year (at least on the station we've had on where I work nightshifts).
December 20, 20196 yr Gosh that diplomat's wife aboslutely deserves to be charged. That rule making thme immune from certain criems is awful.
December 20, 20196 yr Leona  My favourite 2010s Christmas song. To be fair it doesn't have that much competition. Not like in the 70's and 80's.
December 20, 20196 yr One More Sleep should have been Leona's fourth Number One in 2013. Wizzard's song aged a lot better than Slade's.
