December 21, 20196 yr I suspect LadBaby will still be No 1 on the First Look Chart, but won't be by Friday. Not sure what will though and can't see it being Mariah
December 21, 20196 yr Last year, Mariah's combined sales increased from 35,896 to 65,004 (81%) to just miss out on #1, while Wham!'s increased from 32,139 to 60,412 (88%). If those same rates of increase happen this year... Mariah would go from 36,781 (yesterday's chart) to 66,606 Wham! would go from 35,926 (excl. vinyl sales) to 67,530 and in yesterday's chart, Own It did 67,649 So basically, who knows.
December 21, 20196 yr Mariah to do the double hopefully! Absolutely no chance of that happening, Album won't come close
December 21, 20196 yr Mariah has got the vinyl release & 2nd music video which is doing great so far.
December 21, 20196 yr Remember to leave AIWFCHRISTMSSIY on repeat on your streaming services. You don't even need to have the volume up or even be in the room! I leave it on when I go out.
December 21, 20196 yr Mariah has got the vinyl release & 2nd music video which is doing great so far. ...and the Walkers crisps advert - I can understand why some people are saying this could be her best chance but really hope Stormzy spoils the Party!
December 21, 20196 yr Given that Own It was boosted by the album release I think Wham could get the No1 which would be fitting on the 35th anniversary Next year is 40 years since Stop The Cavalry hit the charts so could there be a campaign to get that to No1?
December 21, 20196 yr Maybe Rod will be No.1 album again. His Friday to Tuesday sales should be really good and can’t imagine Stormzy’s album is going to be getting enough Xmas Day streams to counteract it. Stormzy vs Mariah for No.1 single? I expect to see both do around 60-65k with Wham not far behind, just like last year.
December 21, 20196 yr Remember to leave AIWFCHRISTMSSIY on repeat on your streaming services. You don't even need to have the volume up or even be in the room! I leave it on when I go out. Team Mariah adopting a win at all costs strategy this year.
December 21, 20196 yr Author Furthermore, I don't think the Chart of the Year 2019 is happening, there seems to be two random presenters who I never heard off announcing the official chart countdown next Friday from 4pm to 6pm unless I missed it somewhere its not even in the Radio 1 schedule for the next fortnight.
December 21, 20196 yr today's update Spotify looks more favourable to Stormzy than Mariah... was checking's last year's Spotify data... Mariah did: 695-712-753-1,188-1,637-259-104K while Ava Max did: 410-393-354-362-302-336-365K Mariah had quite a weak rival in Ava, who was barely doing 360K per day on average but of course Mariah was on ACR and Ava not, so Ava ended up as Xmas #1 even if on Spotify alone, Mariah did more than double (764K per day on average; totals were 2,52 million for Ava and 5,34 million for Mariah) so far this year, Mariah started a bit lower on 622K but her most direct rival, Stormy, has actually started much stronger than Ava did last year, he's on 524K so sure Stormzy has a chance
December 21, 20196 yr Furthermore, I don't think the Chart of the Year 2019 is happening, there seems to be two random presenters who I never heard off announcing the official chart countdown next Friday from 4pm to 6pm . They're students Martin from York university. They won student radio awards recently and have presented a chart show together on student radio before. The lass, Hannah, was named Best Student Female presenter so they should have an idea what they're doing. Read today that both are very very nervous but they won't be left alone and the producer will be sat with them all the time. Also they'll sit in on a couple of shows earlier in the day to watch how the desk is run. Edited December 21, 20196 yr by Crazy Chris-tmas
December 21, 20196 yr I’m predicting Stormzy will end up at #1 on the singles chart and Mariah will have similar sales to last year
December 21, 20196 yr Last year, Mariah's combined sales increased from 35,896 to 65,004 (81%) to just miss out on #1, while Wham!'s increased from 32,139 to 60,412 (88%).
