25. Adele – Rolling In The Deep

Chart peak: 1 (1 week)

Year: 2011

When Adele returned with this in 2011, you knew she had already outpaced Duffy. BAM! Robbed of an Official Chart number 1 and ease;y one of the best number 2's ever.

24. Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne – Rather Be

Chart peak: 1 (4 weeks)

Year: 2014

Slightly ruined now by M&S food adverts, this is still an utter classic and rightfully kick started the huge careers of both Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne (and almost the best thing both have done).

23. Adele – Someone Like You

Chart peak: 1 (8 weeks)

Year: 2011

In one of the TV moments of the decade, Adele gave a career defining performance of Someone Like You at the Brit Awards in 2011. She went stratospheric after that and rightly so.

21. Röyksopp & Robyn – Monument

Chart peak: 1 (3 weeks)

Year: 2014

There is something other-worldly about this song. Happy memories of a trip to Barcelona back in 2014.

Recap 30-21:

21 Röyksopp & Robyn – Monument

22 Of Monsters And Men – Little Talks

23 Adele – Someone Like You

24 Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne – Rather Be

25 Adele – Rolling In The Deep

26 Years & Years – Shine

27 Jamie xx – Girl

28 Disclosure feat. Eliza Doolittle – You & Me

29 Adele – Set Fire To The Rain

30 Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – It’s A Beautiful World

Shine is one of my favourites from Years and Years, such a powerful song! Little Talks was a fab song of the moment as well, and Rather Be was a brilliant breakthrough from Clean Bandit.

Giving Monument a listen now, quite different to what I'm used to hearing from Royksopp but a very strong chilled-out track (and I appreciate the instrumentation towards the end also)

Thanks for the comments so far (and thanks to RFC, Chez and Dan as well!). Glad you have had a listen of something you haven't heard before.

Starting off the top 20 is Clean Bandit's best song which is only enhanced by the lovely Zara Larsson.

What a tune! It's so 80s rock with a bit of 2010s synth.

I was a bit late to PALA, but the wait was worth it - Friendly Fires are just so chirpy and upbeat!

17. Coldplay – Midnight

Literally just found out this was a sample and just the lyrics are Coldplay (thanks Chez). That does kind of take something away from how groundbreaking this is, but it remains a welcome departure for the band and I love it.

I went to Pompeii in 2017, and Bastille and their Gregorian chants were sadly absent :(

15. Adele – Skyfall

The amazing mix of Adele and James Bond, giving easily the best Bond theme since Goldeneye (and the best Bond film since as well). Take note, Sam Smith!

11. Woodkid – Run Boy Run

Chart peak: 1 (2 weeks)

Year: 2012

The best BJSC entry ever! Was also promoted around the Olympics, not missing a trick.

Recap 20-11:

11 Woodkid – Run Boy Run

12 Bastille – Of The Night

13 Jake Bugg – How Soon The Dawn

14 Loreen – Euphoria

15 Adele – Skyfall

16 Bastille – Pompeii

17 Coldplay – Midnight

18 Friendly Fires – Hawaiian Air

19 M83 – Midnight City

20 Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larsson – Symphony

Midnight's sample was a mystery to me too until I looked on it's wiki page! :o It is still a really interesting change of pace for them, I'd definitely rank it amongst their best (that whole Ghost Stories era was excellent for singles even if I didn't like the album as much).

Love Run Boy Run as well

my faves from 11-60

12 Bastille – Of The Night

14 Loreen – Euphoria definitely the best eurovision song of the decade, and for me ever

15 Adele – Skyfall

16 Bastille – Pompeii

17 Coldplay – Midnight

19 M83 – Midnight City

20 Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larsson – Symphony think I'd rank this just above Rather Be as well, both are truly excellent tracks

21 Röyksopp & Robyn – Monument

22 Of Monsters And Men – Little Talks

23 Adele – Someone Like You

24 Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne – Rather Be

25 Adele – Rolling In The Deep

26 Years & Years – Shine

28 Disclosure feat. Eliza Doolittle – You & Me

29 Adele – Set Fire To The Rain

33 Röyksopp feat. Susanne Sundfør - Running To The Sea

36 Years & Years – King

37 Sigma feat. Paloma Faith – Changing

40 Secondcity – I Wanna Feel

42 Sigala & Becky Hill – Wish You Well

46 Kiesza – Hideaway

47 Gotye feat. Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know

50 Tame Impala – Let It Happen

51 Coldplay – Christmas Lights

53 Lady Gaga – Edge Of Glory

55 Arctic Monkeys – Do I Wanna Know?

56 Duke Dumont – Won’t Look Back

57 Route 94 feat. Jess Glynne – My Love

58 Coldplay – A Sky Full Of Stars

60 Jessie J feat. B.o.B - Price Tag

in particular Clean Bandit x2, Bastille, Gotye, Kiesza and Route 94 - all should be making my top 100.
