December 28, 20195 yr No, and not because of the ACR debate, I would've said Stormzy deserved #1 this week if he got there - but because of the way her streams built up, Amazon music playing River SO often. Surely they should go through around 50-80 songs before they start repeating them. It's a form of payola in a way - give us your song as an exclusive and we'll make sure to play it over and over even when people aren't specifically asking for it
December 28, 20195 yr It's dodgy af so no not really, I'm not into the charts at all anymore but it makes me kind of worried how easy it might be in the future for other songs to be Amazon exclusives and get that payola to inflate their chart positions, like imagine if artists who are releasing a "proper" new single do it to inflate their streams, it's just corrupt and if it happens more often then it's gonna make the chart even less of a "thing" that it is and make it mean less and less.
December 28, 20195 yr Saddens me she's got #1 this way but at least it's a beautiful cover of an amazing song, one of the best songs written in the history of music which barely anyone knew in the UK before so good for that at least
December 30, 20195 yr Absolutely yes. The threads in the chart forum are the most I've been entertained by anything related to the chart in years.
December 31, 20195 yr jNGZo5gn_tc I've already reported Ellie, Amazon and the OCC to Human Rights Watch for this x
January 2, 20205 yr No I don't think she does it's a very dodgy #1. I don't think however any playlists or automatic playing of songs should count towards the charts or sales as it simply like putting on the radio and choosing a channel to listen to Radio 1, 2, Heart, Capital etc etc.
January 2, 20205 yr This is how I felt about every Westlife number 1 in the late 90s/early 2000s. Life is unfair, but essentially most of it is in the grand scheme of things - unimportant and insignificant.
