Good news. : )

A supermajority is needed in the Senate (67/100) so this is unlikely to carry unfortunately.

YEA: 232

NAY: 197

Democratic YEA: 221

Democratic NAY: 0

Democratic Non Voting: 0

Republican YEA: 10

Republican NAY: 197

Republican Non Voting: 4

The impeachment system in the US is a disgrace, some idiot from wyomng having as big a say as California, ridiculous!

Ironically there was a Wyoming rep who votes for impeachment :D

From BBC News.

The 10 Republicans who coted with the Dems to impeach are:

Liz Cheney of Wyoming (the third highest-ranking Republican in the House)

Adam Kinzinger of Illinois (the only Republican that voted on a bill calling for Vice-President Mike Pence to take over as president yesterday)

John Katko of New York (the first House Republican to say he'd vote to impeach)

Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio

Tom Rice of South Carolina

Dan Newhouse of Washington State

Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington State

Fred Upton of Michigan

David Valadao of Florida

Peter Meijer of Michigan

I'd say McConnell is only going along with impeachment so far because it's his last shot at tying up Democrat initiatives into the start of Biden's presidency. To the end that Trump won't actually be convicted and this'll just tie up the Senate for a while.

and also that it allows him to distance himself from Trump, though if the Republican Congresspeople won't impeach him there's not all that much distancing going on.

Thanks for posting this, I didn't realize my representative would be voting to impeach. For what it's worth, I'm impressed!
Props to those 10 for going against their cult majority although it's probably not gonna be enough it still says a lot both about them and the ones that didn't.

This is the most bipartisan impeachment ever apparently. Small victories lol ~

They'd need 17 Republicans in the Senate to vote to convict which definitely isn't happening - looks like the trial won't be happening until after he's already left office anyway though.

It's possibly slight wishful thinking, but if Senate Republican leadership decides they want to clear the decks for 2024, impeachment is about the best way to do it.

It's certainly the easiest way of ensuring he doesn't try to stand in 2024. That only requires a simple majority in the Senate. If he has already been convicted by the Senate, that vote should be a formality. Without a conviction, it would be open to Supreme Court challenge.

Think the problem isn’t Trump the person it’s the ideology left behind they are worried about
It's definitely going to be interesting to see if Trumpism is bigger than Trump. My guess (hope?) is that the message resonated in part because of the messenger, it won't go away, but in 2024 we will see multiple candidates run on a ''MAGATrumo'' platform and hopefully split the votes enough that someone else can win. Not that A likely centrist Republican would be much better, but small steps.

Can't see Biden/Harris being beaten in 2024 anyway. They don't often get two one-termers together,

Well, we'd never had a clown elected President before 2016 either. Given all the precedents that have fallen aside during Trump's lunacy anything could happen in 2024.

I'd love it to be President Harris up against either Nikki Haley or Ivanka Trump for the Repubs.

There are calls for Trump to be digitally removed from Home Alone 2. Macauley Culin has backed the idea. They're trying to make out that he never existed, wipe him from history. Well he does exist.

They wanted to use the lobby of his hotel for a scene and he agreed but only if he could be in it. Canadian TV removed him from a TV showing in 2019.

Edited by common sense

who is trump (sp?)
