Unsurprisingly, ratings for news bulletins are soaring this week.

Yesterday the Six O'Clock News and Regional News were over 7m on BBC One!

Ratings continuing to go through the roof - 8.7m for the Six O'Clock News on Wednesday!!

Meanwhile The Repair Shop launched with 5.9m against Kate & Koji with 5.1m. Both very good figures in this day and age.

ITV also revealed their daytime shows like This Morning and Loose Women have reached a six year high. Looks like Coronavirus could result in a number of TV shows growing their audience over the next few months!

21m! Blimey! :o Split between 15.5m on BBC1 and 5.5m on ITV, with a further 1.7m watching on Channel 4, 2.1m on Sky News and 2.4m on BBC News.

I imagine EastEnders would have had its highest overnight of the year anyway, but I hope we get a rating to see how much the news boosted it further.

EastEnders and MasterChef both over 6m apparently. Last time EastEnders had a 6m+ rating was March 2018 I believe.

6.2m and 5.4m for the Corrie episodes last night, looks like EastEnders got around 6.5m.

Eastenders according to the sun peaked at 9.32 million.

Quote from The Sun:

The BBC soap hit a high of 9.32m with an average across the episode of 6.49m - easily the soap's highest ratings of the last few years.

Coronation Street also soared to 6.43m people watching its first episode of the night.

Full soap ratings from Walford Web:

19:00 - Emmerdale: 5.86m (27.9%)

19:30 - Coronation Street: 6.26m (29.1%)

20:00 - EastEnders: 6.49m (26.6%)

20:30 - Coronation Street: 5.47m (17.1%)

20:30 - A Ministerial Broadcast from the Prime Minister: 15.39m (47.1%)

Guessing the 6.43m that The Sun quoted for Corrie was the peak - in another tweet, it's said that Corrie remained consistent throughout the broadcast. The BBC saw viewers flock to the channel at 20:28 when EastEnders' credits were rolling, which still counts towards EastEnders' rating and I'm guessing that's where the 9.32m peak comes from.

Also looks like the BBC News Report special that aired after the PM's announcement held onto the majority of the 15m viewers.

Ratings saw a 100% increase as viewers climbed from 100 people to 200. :o
