Like when we were wishing Gaga would go back and do pop again I thought we meant pop as in whatever is pop right now, like Dua Lipa has done with her upcoming era. Or like Katy did with NRO releasing something that was firmly pop but modern production. Not to literally release something that sounds like it was recorded in 2011.

 

Like Born This Way was great at the time but the production sounds dated and not top quality now. This is the same. Here's hoping the leaks were not HQ.

That's probably why I prefer it to most of today's pop music!

 

I don't think it sounds as dated as you're saying though, it has hallmarks of her music from that era but it kinda has unmistakable Bloodpop production which is a fairly current thing. I think it's straddling the borderline really quite well.
