Posted January 24, 20205 yr Interested in seeing the results of this... Which of Madonna’s two most recent studio albums do you prefer. Rebel Heart or Madame X? For me it’s Madame X all the way. It’s much more consistent, flows better as an album, feels like it has a theme and also feels like Madonna herself genuinely likes and believes in the project too. Rebel Heart has some LOWS! (Mainly, Body Shop, Holy Water). Although Rebel Heart in itself is an improvement on MDNA. Edited January 25, 20205 yr by Jordan Lee
January 24, 20205 yr Rebel Heart but I put both of them in the bottom end of her discographies. 80's, 90's and 00's all produced some amazing Madonna albums but the 10's were all average or naff (MDNA)
January 24, 20205 yr Madame x overall. I like 8/9 songs on rebel heart but lots I don’t like. Madame x - the singles are weak but some great album tracks.
January 25, 20205 yr Author Rebel Heart but I put both of them in the bottom end of her discographies. 80's, 90's and 00's all produced some amazing Madonna albums but the 10's were all average or naff (MDNA) I think 00s Madonna was the best Madonna. From True Blue she hit her mark for me. Like Rihanna, her first two albums are quite patchy but from her third she started to smash and then the fourth era they really got it spot on.
January 25, 20205 yr Madame X by a long way, You can make a reasonable 10 track album from everything on Rebel Heart but it doesn't even begin to imagine the same level of sheer ambition that Madame X brought back to her discography.
January 25, 20205 yr Madame X as a solid body of work overall, but Rebel Heart has higher highs (with a selection of proper shockers peppered around them).
January 25, 20205 yr Author Madame X by a long way, You can make a reasonable 10 track album from everything on Rebel Heart but it doesn't even begin to imagine the same level of sheer ambition that Madame X brought back to her discography. THIS! Madame X is like something she’d have released in the 90s / 00s. It’s daring, different and ambitious and pushes boundaries in ways Rebel Heart didn’t.
January 25, 20205 yr Real tough one! Rebel Heart has the tour to go with it which I loved and loads of songs I adore.. but it also has some shockers and low points. Madame X has less highs but also far less lows. I'm abstaining and voting later :kink:
January 29, 20205 yr Voted Rebel Heart after much deliberation. I just can't deny the personal connection I have with it because of the tour!
January 30, 20205 yr Author One vote in it at the minute. Everytime I check this and see the recent comments the other album takes the lead  Edited January 30, 20205 yr by Jordan Lee
January 30, 20205 yr I'm really surprised this has been such a tight result! I love both albums but Madame X is easily the better album for me. It has a strong direction and identity, the music is innovative, daring and exciting, and showed that Madonna could still absolutely boss it. The music videos were all fantastic, so powerful and detailed. I really like Rebel Heart but Madame X is so much more of an exciting body of work in comparison. Rebel Heart as an era felt more eventful though, always something going on, and that makes it really special to look back on.
April 26, 20205 yr I'm quite glad it's a tie, because I struggle to choose between the two myself
April 26, 20205 yr Still surprised by this tight result. If we were judging eras, it would make sense, but purely the album content then Madame X is much stronger.
April 26, 20205 yr Author Madame X is so much better in my opinion! I think I’d struggle more choosing between Rebel Heart and Hard Candy tbh. Madame X is leagues ahead of the three albums what come before it and it felt so Madonna like too she changed her image, sound become this character. It’s such a shame that promo didn’t go to plan like the tour and that era was kinda messy.
