May 2, 20205 yr Author 'How Far?' featuring the late Tony Allen, and Skepta, has been released as a tribute to Allen. GiWduWEtma4 First one from this project I dislike, but I appreciate the sentiment. Apparently this also isn't 'episode 4' of Song Machine, but has been released under that name on streaming so I'm not sure!
May 3, 20205 yr RIP Tony Allen, sad that he didn't get to see this being released. Definitely the weakest of the Gorillaz releases this year but it's still decent, just sounds a bit more like an album track. Shame there aren't any Damon Albarn vocals on this one.
June 8, 20205 yr Author The next release is 'Friday 13th' featuring Octavian, and it's out tomorrow! Sounding much better than I expected at least  zV0IELvPY6s
June 9, 20205 yr Author This is alright, a bit dull though. O1ALIgizTcc So far, I'd rank them: 1. Momentary Bliss 2. Aries 3. Desole 4. Friday 13th 5. How Far?
July 20, 20204 yr Author Titled 'PAC-MAN' and is out at 19:30! Hopefully it's better than the last two disappointing releases. JktEy8LaHWI
August 21, 20204 yr Author Oh my god, Shazam has revealed the next single features... Robert Smith! Hyped, and it's titled "Strange Timez"
August 21, 20204 yr The preview at the end of the 'PAC-MAN' video already sounded very promising, another exciting sounding collaborator as well! Also forgot to comment about 'PAC-MAN' but that was another fab song from them, a very catchy instrumental and a great performance from ScHoolboy Q. Didn't quite live up to the quality of the first 3 Song Machine tracks but a big improvement on 'Friday 13th' (which I still think was quite good but massively outclassed by everything else which has all been among my favourite stuff they have ever put out). Momentary Bliss > Désolé > Aries > PAC-MAN >> Friday 13th (> How Far? - not really counting this as part of the series)
August 21, 20204 yr Author Also, a Beck collab titled 'Los Angeles' recently leaked in full, that's expected to be a future Song Machine release!
September 9, 20204 yr Enjoyed that one! Robert Smith has made a few great non-Cure collaborations, and this one's good as well. I think the chances of Gorillaz having a big hit are long past them, but this one would be a welcome addition.
September 9, 20204 yr Author The full album is out on October 23rd! @1303742151382237201 Tracklisting: 1. Strange Timez (feat. Robert Smith) 2. The Valley of The Pagans (feat. Beck) 3. The Lost Chord (feat. Leee John) 4. Pac-Man (feat. ScHoolboy Q) 5. Chalk Tablet Towers (feat. St Vincent) 6. The Pink Phantom (feat. Elton John and 6LACK) 7. Aries (feat. Peter Hook and Georgia) 8. Friday 13th (feat. Octavian) 9. Dead Butterflies (feat. Kano and Roxani Arias) 10. Désolé (feat. Fatoumata Diawara) [Extended Version] 11. Momentary Bliss (feat. Slowthai and Slaves) 1. Opium (feat. EARTHGANG) 2. Simplicity (feat. Joan As Police Woman) 3. Severed Head (feat. Goldlink and Unknown Mortal Orchestra) 4. With Love To An Ex (feat Moonchild Sanelly) 5. MLS (feat. JPEGMAFIA and CHAI) 6. How Far? (feat. Tony Allen and Skepta) What a lineup!
September 9, 20204 yr Well this is great news for several reasons! a) that we are actually getting a full album, b) that there are still plenty more exciting collaborators to come and c) that it's described as 'season one' presumably meaning this will be continuing after the album as well (unless they're pulling a Calvin Harris). *.* Particularly looking forward to the songs with Elton John, EARTHGANG and JPEGMAFIA (and Robert Smith ofc as I haven't listened to this new song yet x) but nearly every name on there is at least somewhat intriguing.
September 9, 20204 yr I echo all of the comments above - only really loved ‘Aries’ so far but some of the features on the album sound class.
