Germany have, sensibly, ditched their National Final in favour of an internal selection and there are rumours abounding (via a thread on a forum that falls into the "insider source" category) that Kim Petras will sing for Germany in Rotterdam. Is there any truth to these rumours or is this some pure mad speculation?

(Petras seems to not have any gigs or commitments for all of the months of March, April and May which is only adding fuel to the fire)

I'd be f***ing GAGGED.

Seeing her on Friday, I'd be very shocked if she did but like, stranger things have happened!

Kim never had a chart entry in Germany, even though some people know her. Eurovision would be a huge impact on her career,
I mean she’s replied to a tweet asking if she’s doing it saying “no, no and hell no” so I’m gonna hazard a guess she ain’t.
There will be a 45 minutes long tv show to present the entry, so I guess it has to be someone big. Could it be Lena for the third time, maybe a duet with her new beau Mark Forster...
Ooh exciting! Lena again would be fab.

Two jurys have already choosen the act who will be revealed on Feb 27. The international jury of experts consists of 20 international music professionals who have already proven themselves in the national jury of their home country. The so-called Eurovision jury is made up of 100 people from Germany who are supposed to reflect the taste of the audience. They cancelled the public vote because they say only 6,6% of ESC final voters also have voted in the Nation final, while only 16% of the Nation final have voted in the ESC final, too.

I guess / fear it will be an unknown act representing Germany.

There is absolutely no reason to fear an unknown act though. I would LOVE Lena again to mark 10 years since her victory, but she herself wasn't known before taking part in the 2010 selection process. At the other end of the scale, Cascada had chart hits across Europe prior to Eurovision and they didn't manage top 20..
I just thought it was a famous act because they were so hush hush about it for many weeks. Why else should they move the show to a small station and announce there won't be a public vote? I really didn't expect those juries to decide, but I'm surprised that all of those people (especially die-hard Eurovision fans who were able to vote) have kept quiet about who's representing Germany.

Ooh exciting! Lena again would be fab.

Lena talked about her second run recently. She said (by Google translator): "It just didn't have to be. It wasn't bad, you can't say that everything would have been much better if I hadn't done it. But should it have been? No," said Lena Meyer-Landrut in retrospect. Without the second ESC appearance, she would have had "less stress and more rest". "A little less of everything would have been smart. But it was what it was."

About a possible return she said: "I never want to say never. I don't know if it will grab me again at 50. For me it is absolutely unimaginable right now and not in the realm of the imaginable. But as I know myself, I always want to keep changing my mind I can’t rule anything out. "

Wondered what the Lena & Stefan Rabb headline on the train this morning was about. Switched stories before I got a proper look at it. So Dankeschön for posting!
I guess they just wanted a headline about Stefan Raab. When Lena was asked if Stefan Raab overwhelmed her during her Eurovision time she said (by Google translator): "Yes, in any case. But this is not supposed to be a blame because I firmly believe that everyone is responsible for themselves. And I certainly signaled back then that everything was okay."

Apparently it's Benjamin Dolic idk who that is but that's the buzz on Twitter rn
Looks like he was runner-up on The Voice Germany in 2018. I've seen rumblings that the song is written by either Boris Milanov or Michael Schulte, both of those sound like okay routes to go down..

Bit of a bop!
