Let the battle commence :lol: As said above Kylie has 2+ months advantage on pre-orders over Little Mix - I’m also sure that a further version will appear from Kylie (maybe as a Spotify exclusive) in the form of a picture disc for DISCO as she released them for Golden and SBIT.

I wonder if this will be one of those chart battles that’s really close or one of those hyped battles that’s not close at all in the end :lol:

 

 

Little Mix’s opening sales are usually quite strong though they’ve been unlucky to have only had 1 #1 album they’ve just nearly always released in a competitive week.

 

Their streaming will be higher, but I’d imagine Kylies pre orders and vinyls will be higher. An interesting chart battle against two BJ faves though

:lol: There is always one that we all think will be close and ends up being a 30k difference - I think this one will be quite close tbh, LM pulled out a few tricks for LM5 (reduced price, signed bundles etc.,) at the last minute to boost their chart position.

 

Kylie had a phone-in interview with Andy Cohen on Sirius XM. She talked about the album process, her one-time meeting with Madonna, her unreleased collaborations with Jake Shears, the music she's been listening to recently (Dua and Miley) and teased the next single. “I started last year – late last year, and went to Australia for Christmas, came back, continued working on the album. I was in the studio every day until the doors closed, basically. And then I was home. I managed to get the equipment I needed to set up a studio – it makes it sound quite grand, AKA my lounge room. We finished writing and recording the album at home, remotely, with my team players,” she explained.

Andy and Kylie also talked Kath & Kim, as well as the probability of hearing unreleased music recorded with Jake Shears.

 

“Probably. And if he sits the send button without telling me, he’ll be in so much trouble,” she teased.

 

“I’ve kind of lost track of what we did, because we were supposed to write together for this album. I had a writing trip to LA planned in March, so of course that was canceled. Otherwise there may have been another Jake Shears collab with me, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. He’s so gold. I think he’s a fantastic writer, performer and he’s got that singular quality that we miss. I for one wouldn’t be mad at a Scissor Sisters reunion.” I concur!

Little Mix will win this one. It's Xmas the kids will want those stocking fillers.

 

They will release so many formats.

Little Mix having The Search on BBC One every weekend on Prime Time for 5/6 weeks leading up to their album - and performing new songs on it every week might give them the edge. It'll be an exciting battle for sure.

Im disappointed they are both releasing on the same week and i wouldnt rule little mix out of beating Kylie, i hate when acts i like release on the same week but clearly i want kylie to get the number 1.

Didn't realise they'd be performing new songs each week, that should give them a decent boost - even if the show isn't a hit, Little Mix fans are bound to check those performances out. It's great to have an exciting chart battle but I wish they could both end up achieving #1!

I think that's only on the Lives though - so even though Little Mix as a brand will be advertised throughout the show, I think it'll just be a performance of the new single the week before release and another performance the week the album is out.

It could go either way tbh however I have every confidence in Kylie - she often is ear marked as the underdog but has proved time and time again she can and does hold her own when it comes to album sales. Yes LM are a threat but not unbeatable.

Also for a start LM will I’m sure have bundles but so does Kylie - I have the Super Deluxe bundle on order (5 copies) plus the Amazon and HMV exclusives so 7 sales from me alone plus a week of heavy streaming when it’s released - there are 100s+ of Kylie collectors that have ordered the same as me.

A picture vinyl would go down a storm maybe with a picture cassette combo

 

Who knows what promo she has?

 

At least even if she doesn't get number 1 at least a chart battle may get her more sales

Two months of pre orders isn't going to save Kylie. She has to sell on the release week too and a lot more. Little Mix have plenty of time to release loads of stuff like Kylie has

Kylie has sold 15k in pre-orders at the moment which is very strong. However, most of an artists' pre-orders come in the first week. (In comparison Steps have done 8k)

But little Mix could sell that easily when their pre orders start

 

Am sure Kylie only does long pre orders because it gives them a budget for the promo etc lol.

 

Let's hope single 2 catches people attention.

 

 

If covid 19 lockdown starts again it would be perfect opportunity to bring forward release date and get everything posted out

15K in pre orders is pretty good.

 

And by the time the release comes that figure will increase too so we could be looking at around (20K pre orders) that’s just me assuming all the pre orders are like the stans / hardcore fans and the rest will be made up by the GP.

 

Then there’s what she’ll sell in stores (if they’re open) on release week. Kylie could be someone who’d benefit from supermarket sales too if they’re still a thing.
