From the information we are picking up, a disco sound appears to be on the cards for the new Kylie album.

Official Charts Company reporting on the news Kylie is back in the studio:

Kylie Minogue has confirmed she has "already started work in the studio" on her next album.

The Australian pop legend spoke with CNBC International TV about what she learned when making her last studio album, the country-inspired Golden, and how she will apply her newfound knowledge on the next record.

"I certainly didn't see that country element coming, but I loved every second of it," Kylie explained. "I got to spend two weeks in Nashville. I barely did sightseeing, shopping, anything. I ate, slept, wrote. It was all about music. Some of the lessons I learned there, whether by being actively engaged and trying to learn more about songwriting. Or just by osmosis... there's something about Nashville that seeps into you."

Kylie continued: "I've already started work in the studio. There's that... we're not quite sure what it is yet, but we feel like 'that's good, that's good, this is the direction we're heading'. It's probably too early to say what it is, but I'm very excited. I won't be doing [country]again, but what I learned in that period will stay with me however songwriting pans out in the future."

While it's unknown if this collaboration is for Kylie's upcoming fifteenth studio album, she is working with producer Mousse T and Alex Guadina, the former of which posted a photo with Kylie in the studio captioned with "#disco".

Kylie's fourteenth studio album Golden reached Number 1 on the UK's Official Albums Chart in April 2018, while greatest hits Step Back In Time also topped the charts last July, becoming her seventh UK chart topper. Step Back In Time also featured in 2019's Top 10 best-selling cassettes.

Its true that Dancing works live a lot and on stage it does have the Kylie magic we all love, I am also sure it will be part of her coming shows and will always have its place...

I love new reports of a disco sound, its working wonders now anyway and Kylie could play to her advantage with a fresh disco sound, hopefully she will also pick new producers to work with...

Lots of reviews for Dua Lipa's recent album are noting strong Kylie influences, specifically from Fever.

It's an incredible pop-disco album and I'd be over the moon if Kylie's album went in this direction!

Grown up disco sounds good,, a few of us were hoping for this direction and we may get lucky.

I'd love for Kylie to work with Cerrone. His sound has all the hallmarks of classic disco, but he makes it work in a modern pop landscape. 2016's 'Red Lips' album is a good example of that.

A snippet of a Music Week interview with Alistair Norbury, president of BMG UK, regarding how their acts have been dealing with lockdown:

Kylie Minogue is learning to use Logic. She's got herself a home studio and decided that, if there's one thing she can do during this time, it's to learn to engineer and record her own vocals. So with some Zoom lessons and plenty of input from [bMG VP, A&R]Jamie Nelson, Kylie's learning to get herself to a place where she can be creative during this time.

Great to know that the creative process is still rolling, perhaps we'll get the album about this time next year?

It is of great use and practical for Kylie to have an use and will allow Kylie time to test and try songs at her own ease.
