May 14, 20205 yr well, watched semi 1 and the 6 finalists and I must say it's a complete tragedy this contest didnt go ahead in some form, the quality is amazing - there are 12 tracks already I need to buy, 2 more and it's cheaper to buy the CD.... Winner so far? I don;t see how Sweden could have failed to win, but also fab so far Malta Lithuania Ireland Russia Azerbaijan Israel Spain Germany Italy Netherlands The variety, contemporary sounds and willing-to-take-a-chance musically continues to put the UK to shame. This year's entry for the UK is not bad at all - but it's not as good as the above.

May 15, 20205 yr This was my ranking of them based on the listenthrough on plug the other day, feel free to roast me for any trash takes x I'm aware I'm probably the only person in the world this time ranking Slovenia so highly but I have a big soft spot for a good Balkan ballad and the chorus on 'Voda' just really struck me as one of the standout moments of any song in the bunch - they really came that close to being my top country two years in a row! Although this song isn't even 10% as good as 'Sebi' was, nothing this year came close to the quality of that and I think overall the quality was a bit down from last year in general oops, a pretty good top 6 here tho. Bulgaria remains subline but Italy has been the biggest grower for me, so stirring and impacting. And Iceland would have made a great winner, it's the whole package. Russia's would have been their best entry in years for me too. A very solid entry from the UK, I'd like to think James would have come on the left hand side or thereabouts, with a strong jury vote and a better televote than usual (I wouldn't hold my breath on the latter but I think he would have got a lot of 1s and 2s on the televote).
