I've heard High On Your Supply, it's pretty good.

Yeh I like it!

I'm very upset to see some reviews of the album (Namely British articles) being both ageist and misogynistic. Disgraceful journalism. Why does everyone act like 35 is old and that when you have a child your life is over. Makes me sick.

Kylie was at the peak of in her career in her mid 30s, Whitney had hits and major albums in her her 40s and Madonna was having hits in her 50s just to name a few. Then look at all of the men 35+ who've maintained a strong presence in the charts and people don't even flinch.

I’m finding a lot of the reviews very inconsistent and unfair but Katy’s never gotten a good critical reception so I’m not bothered. Much. Even Teenage Dream got a meh reception from critics (OF COURSE when it smashed they suddenly changed their minds and put it on the decade-end lists)

I wasn’t sure what to expect but I’m kind of disappointed with the US projection, I know she had a tour bundle but it’s weird to think she’ll probably debut with less than Xtina’s Liberation. If she gets top 3 here that’ll make up for it x

The deluxe is down to #23 on Amazon and the standard is #56 but I’m not too worried, webstore sales will be most important and she’s only behind Metallica and Gregory Porter out of the new releases. Question, as Small Talk and Never Worn White are only on the deluxe physical edition of the album will they count towards the streaming?

Edited by Andrew.

Not sure, but they’d have to be in the Top 12 streamed tracks on the album...

I've totally noticed how every review has mentioned her age, and framing it as if 35 is ancient. It's really not cool!

It’s definitely a female thing that age is always mentioned. I remember Gagas age being mentioned a lot in the Chromatica reviews and they’ve mentioned folklore being Taylor’s first album as a 30 year old quite a bit too. Not that it makes a difference.

I mean even recently P!nk who was 40 last year got herself a three week #1 album! Women still continue to dominate in their 30s. Beyoncé is probably another example too (and soon to be Rihanna when she finally drops R9!).

As for the streaming question I don’t think it’ll affect Katy as those tracks aren’t on the album on streaming platforms. I could be wrong though.

#5 in the midweeks.

What are your favourite songs on the album?

I'm trying not to think too much about the chart success for this but it's hard when you know people are monitoring it ready to denounce her and call it a flop etc..

We should be happy with #5 tbh (and apparently less than 3K separate the top 5!) considering it's 4 days of sales! I assume no lower than #7 for it? Don't forget this has one hit to sell the album on (and that was over a year ago). I also wouldn't be surprised if this album has missing pre-orders from the current mid-week total (ala 5SOS/Selena) especially as, like Joe said, it was a bank holiday this weekend.

I think no lower than 7, which is a good result all things considered I think.

*Falls out the top 10 in tomorrow's update*

What are your favourite songs on the album?

NRO is probably the best. Smile is growing on me, haven’t heard the Diddy rap yet though. And I love the Tucked video :D

No5 is slightly below what I expected but with only one successful single from the era which was released over a year ago, I guess it’s not surprising.
Meh sales but I think there’s a good chance she could overtake Disclosure, even without a sudden website boost so  I guess?

Are Disclosure normally front loaded?

Of everyone releasing this week I’d have thought Katy would’ve had the biggest amount of like hardcore fans who’d have bought multiple copies of the album etc.

Top 5 is all so close. I imagine she'll overtake Disclosure. The top 3 are uncatcahable I'd say. Like, it's close but unless there are missing orders then I can't see her overtaking any of those.

Excited for todays mids

5. Katy Perry - Smile (7.1k) *

From today’s update.

Disclosure are on 7.7k at #4 and they outsold her yesterday as well by around 300 or so copies.
