 Not a bad performance at all for NTLTC, especially considering that One Last Time (somehow) didn't even get as far as the final!

This was competing for the no.1 spot at the same time as another finalist,'Streets Of Philadelphia',but they both missed out. 'The Sign' spent six non-consecutive weeks at no.1 in the US where it was also top of the year end chart for 1994.

If you watched the recent documentary about 'Songs From The Big Chair' on BBC4 recently, you will know that Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith were not keen on including this song on the album but Roland's wife (or was it Curt's wife? I can't remember) said it would make a great song to hear on the radio while you are driving a car. She was right and lots of American motorists bought the single giving Tears For Fears their second consecutive no.1 single there (after 'Shout'). In the UK,it gave them their highest chart position and won the Best Single award at the Brits.

The summer of 2015 saw Calvin Harris team up with London production trio Disciples. Uncredited vocals were by Norwegian Ina Wroldsen. The song spent twelve weeks in the top 10.

So Kylie has 3 songs in the top 40 and Madonna has only 1 in the top 40/50.

The Princess beat the queen then.

And the 40th most played song of the 2010s (despite being released in 1997) also makes the top 40 here.

As does a certain mid-90s Eurodance hit... I'm referring to Haddaway obviously <_<

This had a chart run of 22-21-22-20 before surging to number 2 in its fifth week. I'm not sure what prompted that climb, maybe someone on here knows. It features a contribution from De La Soul and is the only song in Damon Albarn's career to reach the top 40 in the US where it also won a Grammy award for Best Pop Collaboration.

This was when downloads counted towards the chart, but physicals were still very dominant and downloads were only eligible if there was an accompanying physical release. A very limited edition vinyl release of Feel Good Inc 4 weeks before the CD meant it could effectively chart on little more than downloads alone for those 4 weeks.

38. Fatboy Slim - Right Here Right Now

Average score - 6.939

Stopped by : Westlife - Swear It Again

Top scores : 10 - PeteFromLeeds,King Rollo,Chez Wombat,Dexton,Bre,Jade

Low scores : -1 - vibe, 1 - Achabaan, 2 - Jay1982

This was one of six new entries in the top 7 with Martine McCutcheon's 'Perfect Moment' the only survivor from the previous week. The string melody is sampled from the James Gang song 'Ashes,The Rain & I' while the "right here right now" part is from the film 'Strange Days'.

Thanks. I knew someone would know. :)

It was also the first hit to chart on downloads alone for 4 weeks. Quite a trailblazer!

37. The Killers - When You Were Young

Average score - 6.939 (more 10s)

Stopped by : Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin'

Top scores : 10 - Scene,M4NGO,jimwatts,Jamie Barkley,coi,Dexton,West,chrissmith276

Low scores : 0.5 - jszmiles, 2 - Jay1982

From 2006,this was the Killers' fifth top 40 hit and still their highest charting single.

Since its release, When You Were Young has been my favourite Killers song! 37th isn't too bad, though I think they'd fare even better in an Ultimate #3s rate (if there is one next year haha). They'd definitely do better in an Ultimate #10s
I didn't care for When You Were Young at the time of release but it's one of my favourites of theirs now also, more so than anything off the debut now.
