We are through to Round 9! :cheer:

 

Round 9's theme is Free Choice, i.e. we can send anything we wish to. There's 12 forums remaining and this round will result in a double elimination, so we have to go big and hopefully feel confident that we won't miss the Top 10 most voted for!

 

There is a reason I created the Say You'll Be There vs Spice Up Your Life thread - these are the two options Spiceboy and I have thought we should send. I lean towards Spice Up Your Life, while Spiceboy thinks Say You'll Be There?

 

What do you think? Say You'll Be There or Spice Up Your Life - or should it be something else? Let us know!

* Spiceboy & Chemistry's personal favourite song is Spice Up Your Life, but both feel that Say You'll Be There is the stronger song

 

So far that leans towards Say You'll Be There being a mixture of more people's favourite / what they consider to be good for Round 9.

 

 

I also looked back at the Ultimate Girl Group Single game from 2018. A few AF Idol voters contributed to that. Of course their taste might have slightly changed in 2 years, but...

It could be said that we're splitting hairs because both songs are generally popular, haha. Those that preferred Spice Up Your Life generally seem to love or like Say You'll Be There too.

I'd have thought Spice Up Your Life was the most popular here so I'd have save that for a later round cos Say You'll Be There seems like it would be popular enough to get by.

SUYL is winning the vote on the poll... although one of those is me but I think SYBT is a stronger song haha :lol:

Personally I think Say You'll Be There is the better song.

 

However, I tihnk for a free choice scenario in this game, Spice Up Your Life would be better. It's more instantly recognisable and iconic (sadly), as well as it being more easily catchy. Therefore, I think it would give us a better chance. Plus, Say You'll Be There will still be really as strong a contender in the future.

 

So actually even though I voted for Say You'll Be There on the rate, I would go with Spice Up Your Life here.

My main reasoning for going SYBT is because it came second in that Buzjack rating of Girl band singles (last year was it?) behind Pure shores so I figured it must be more popular??

The problem with relying too heavily on that rating thread Spiceboy is that a lot of the people who voted in that aren't actually taking part in AF Idol! I've listed those that are above, and more of them seem to prefer Spice Up Your Life.
