and Taylor has exited the competition :nocheer: Bad Blood lowkey over performed but it still wasn't enough x I've wrote an essay in the reflection thread so I'm here for us to go through what we would've sent each round (obvs the rest will happen when those rounds go up)

 

Round 12: Free Choice

 

For this free choice, the option was always going to be Blank Space! Taylor's most acclaimed hit (& probs 2nd most acclaimed song overall after All Too Well) and a massive worldwide smash, I feel this would've got us a top 5 finish but at the same time it could've been a shock elimination!

All Too Well and Wildest Dreams have probably been the two best songs that I've discovered through this contest, so will definitely listen to some more of hers.

 

May have been harsh to dismiss her based on how annoying or boring I found her earlier big hits, don't think I've heard anything of hers post-Shake It Off.

Shake It Off and Bad Blood are by FAR the worst 2 tracks on 1989! If you want to listen to a critically acclaimed pure pop album '1989' is THE ONE. Honestly, apart from those 2, there's not a bad track on there! (As much as I don't have time for those 2 tracks, it's easy to see why they were made singles though)

I'm so glad you've enjoyed the Taylor stuff sent so far and seeing your opinion change on her has been amazing <3 <3 she's one of those artists where her album cuts are usually way better than the singles <3

 

 

I'd say these are probably some good suggestions that you might like based on ATW/WD, the fan faves & not similar to her early big hits!

 

Taylor Swift & Fearless: probs skip these eras, most of the stuff is v. country/Love Story-ish. There's a couple of gems that I think non stans would enjoy, You're Not Sorry is one of them and Breathe is another

Speak Now: Enchanted is a major fave. Back To December and Dear John (& to a lesser extent Last Kiss and Long Live) are other long song stan faves. The album on the whole is up there with her best but idk if this album is more just for the stans rather than casual fans

Red: State of Grace, Red, Treacherous 100%! Maybe Starlight/Begin Again/The Moment I Knew/Come Back Be Here was well. The rest of the album is either the singles, the couple songs similar to the singles and the fillers!

1989: I'd recommend the whole album it's Tay pure pop at the best! as Jonjo said, SIO (as much as I adore it) & Bad Blood are def seen as the most divisive songs on there (alongside maybe Welcome To New York). The rest of the album is fab and if you're not familiar with them, I'd feel you'd like Blank Space & Style

Reputation: Look What You Made Me Do is such an amazing lead single but so divisive aha (It's one of those that always gets 11's and -1's in Tay rates here). Call It What You Want would probs be my main recommendation from the album to a casual listener but there's so many gems!

Lover: Lover, Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street, Soon You'll Get Better & Daylight would probs be my main recommendations from this but most the album is fabulous! <3 (I feel you will hate Me and a couple of the other tracks tho haha)

Non-album singles: Safe & Sound definitely! slow folk-y Taylor at her best <3 sweeter than fiction is a bop too but most the stans/ppl on here aren't massive on that one haha

I thought Bad Blood would get us through. :( I'm sad.

Blank Space would've easily been in my top 4 of the votes last round. But I low-key think it would've gone out with how strong that round was aha

Eyes Open is SO good *.* so underrated <3 Tho Safe & Sound is better, I think that acc might make my top 10 Taylor songs ever now.
