November 20, 20241 yr Jay can you explain when MTV is disclosing any sales? And if that is, are they somewhere posted where I can go and observe anything? You know why I am talking about, I keep huge records, any information would be really really appreciated.. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
November 25, 20241 yr Honestly whats the point of OCC keeping any song’s total sales for themselves? It doesnt male sense does it? I wish they would share more! Jay can you explain when MTV is disclosing any sales? And if that is, are they somewhere posted where I can go and observe anything? You know why I am talking about, I keep huge records, any information would be really really appreciated.. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ I don't actually have MTV so I can't watch the programmes :( So it's really reliant on if someone has the channel and happens to catch that they're airing a run down and then noting down the sales. The schedule can be seen here: https://www.mtv.co.uk/tv-schedule/mtv-music and we can see that there's an Ed Sheeran Top 20 at 10am on 27th Nov, which is possibly a repeat. If they repeat shows I'm not sure if they refresh the sales information.
December 10, 20241 yr From MTV: 01. Sound Of The Underground - 1.1M+ 02. The Promise - 805K+ 03. Love Machine - 625K+ 04. Call The Shots - 488K+ 05. Jump - 472K+ 06. Something Kinda Ooooh - 453K+ 07. Can't Speak French - 304K+ 08. I'll Stand By You - 287K+ 09. Biology - 286K+ 10. Something New - 279K+ Thank you for posting! I wonder if they’re very recent totals? Biology is now so close to overtaking I’ll Stand By You! :o The MTV data shared on 28th April 2024: it doesn't seem possible to pinpoint what the cut off date for the data is. These updates showed that their sales had been boosted since November 2023 (due to the reunion announcement), because all 5 singles were selling faster than they had done from March 2023 to November 2023. If we just say for the sake of argument that the data comes from Friday 26th April, and the new data is from Friday November, then their average weekly sales (over 29 weeks) have been: 3,448 - Sound of the Underground (but we can take this with a pinch of salt given the 1.1m/1.2m rounding up) 2,379 - Love Machine 1,896 - The Promise 1,103 - Call the Shots 931 - Jump Hopefully the airing of the tour has provided a nice boost again for their streaming! Presumably their weekly sales will decrease somewhat if they enter another period of inactivity, but if those average sales continued then... Sound of the Underground would certify 3xPlatinum (1.8m) in 2028 (presumably 2xPlatinum isn't too far off, whether it happens this year or in 2025) The Promise would pass 1 million in 2026, and certify 2xPlatinum (1.2m) in 2028 Love Machine would pass 1 million in 2027 and certify 2xPlatinum (1.2m) in 2028 Call the Shots would go Platinum (600k) in 2026 Jump would go Platinum (600k) in 2026 ... so I'd probably take these estimated years as "at the very earliest"! I recorded the MTV episode on April 27, I Shared the information with Liam on the 28th. Obviously I don't know for sure, but I reckon the sales were from late March/early April.
December 11, 20241 yr Ooh thank you for sharing those sales back then! You're welcome Jay! :D I'll try and keep an eye out for more updated MTV lists in the future ^_^
December 20, 20241 yr "Crazy Stupid Love" ft. Tinie Tempah is FINALLY certified Platinum! :cheeseblock:
January 17, 20251 yr SOUND OF THE UNDERGROUND IS FINALLY CERTIFIED 2X PLATINUM!!!!!! :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: @1880277865704398920
January 17, 20251 yr Averaged 2,143 between now and November 2023, so it was on ~1.18m as of November 2024 (when the OCC rounded its total to 1.2m).
January 17, 20251 yr Amazing news!  :cheeseblock: In 2023 I had estimated that it might take until January 2026 for it to go 2xPlatinum, so it’s fantastic that it’s done it a whole year earlier. The power of their reunion, the tour and to some extent being a part of the Saltburn soundtrack too! It gives me faith that some of the singles we’re waiting on going silver could cross over sooner than originally anticipated. I’m so eager for The Show to get there, and Untouchable.
October 2, 2025Oct 2 How many streams in the UK already for Girls Aloud? for Brit Billion purposes. Take That is the latest recipient of it.
January 19Jan 19 I really reallyyyyy hope this is the year we see silver certs happen for The Show, Untouchable and Walk This Way... surely they're getting close? 😭
January 20Jan 20 It's unbelievable 'The Show' isn't already!'Untouchable' I can kind of see taking a bit longer, but surely 'Walk This Way' must be pulling in like 5 sales per week max?
January 21Jan 21 The last updates we had -Walk This Way:152,422 - 19th October 2018156,200 - 2nd August 2019Average sales per week: 92Silver prediction: September 2028Untouchable:144,393 - 19th October 2018147,858 - 2nd August 2019Average sales per week: 84Silver prediction: May 2031The Show:124,905 - 2nd August 2019136,000 - 30th July 2021 (OCC rounded figure)Average sales per week: 107Silver prediction: January 2033In November 2024, OCC revealed in their Girls Aloud Top 40 best sellers list that both Untouchable and The Show had outsold Walk This Way (whereas Walk This Way was still ahead of both of them in March 2023). Considering that The Show was 31,295 sales behind Walk This Way in August 2019, it did well to overtake by the end of 2024, certainly evidence that the reunion had given it a good boost (and Untouchable).I had anticipated Walk This Way being on 181,000+ by November 2024 based on the 2018/19 average weekly sales, but for all we know its sales could have slowed down considerably. Tbh it would have been going some for The Show to go from 136k in July 2021 to over 181k by November 2024 (keeping it in mind that it must have a higher total than Walk This Way). To be more conservative in my estimates, perhaps they were all in the ~170k+ region by then. In which case, I suppose my desire for any of them to go Silver in 2026 isn't at all likely.~~~Regarding No Good Advice and Sexy! No No No... which both managed to go Silver in 2024:No Good Advice149,992 - 15th September 2017160,517 - 2nd August 2019Average sales per week, back then: 107Based on the above info, it was predicted to go Silver in August 2026It actually went Silver in May 2024 (2 years and 3 months earlier than expected; average sales since August 2019 had increased to 157)Sexy! No No No... 145,035 - 19th October 2018150,043 - 2nd August 2019 (at this point, it was only 2,185 sales ahead of Untouchable, and 6,157 behind Walk This Way)Average sales per week, back then: 122Based on the above info, it was predicted to go Silver in June 2027It actually went Silver July 2024 (2 years and 11 months earlier than expected; average sales since August 2019 had increased to 193)^ These two singles going Silver earlier than I'd anticipated makes me hopeful that The Show, Untouchable and Walk This Way go Silver a lot sooner than the estimates worked out from 2018/19 data. But maybe it'll be like, 2029. It's a waiting game!
January 21Jan 21 Anyone knows how many streams for GA and Cheryl overall and how long will it take for brit billion award?
January 21Jan 21 It’s unknown - the only figures the public gets to see are Spotify’s worldwide figures. Whereas that award is based on streams from all streaming platforms and just UK figures.Sound of the Underground (the song) had 56 million UK streams as of November 2024 according to OCC, and that made it their most streamed song. That’s 5.6% of a billion streams. I personally doubt that their entire catalogue comes anywhere close to half a billion UK streams yet.
