I was never a big fan of finer feelings,, it has a good few fans but it's never done a whole lot for me. I hate the cover for it aswell. I was still disappointed it missed the top 10 by 1 place.

I absolutely LOVE Finer Feelings - definitely a Kylie/album highlight for me, I also love the video.

The fact that it peaked at the dreaded #11 though :drama:

I think as a collection of singles you would never think they were all from the same album - PWL were obviously disappointed with the performance of the singles and album peak/sales and knew this would be the final PWL studio album so wanted to try anything to get a hit which is why I think we saw such a random mix of songs as singles.

I like 'Finer Feelings' but I've never loved it like most fans do. The BIR remix does improve it and obviously acts as a taste of things to come.
'If You Were With Me Now' is okay, but I think I'd prefer a solo, modern take on it. Would be one for an Anti Tour.

Kylie seemingly hates this song - she never mentions it now or performs it and missed it off of SBIT.

Also the shade to Keith Washington who had a stamp sized picture on the sleeve. I love it for the fact it gave Kylie a Top 5 much needed hit at the time.

This really is bizarre isn't it?

Yeah it's a surprise it gets so neglected. I'm not overly fussed by it but it was a #4 hit after all.

It's interesting how this is possibly her least successful studio album - I know it's estimated to have slightly higher sales in the UK than Impossible Princess (65k vs ~70k), but at least IP was successful in Australia. I've said it before but it really appears that the Minogue fanbase doesn't take gently to them experimenting with R&B.

^^ It’s like she never wanted him on the song, I remember reading that they never even met and he recorded his vocals separately

Agreed, Impossible Princess at least has a big fanbase too and gets passing mentions when the media refer to her 'indie phase'. Let's Get to It is more or less forgotten about.

It was an odd time for this release - Kylie fever had totally tapered off and she was trying to find her sound whilst also keeping her fans happy who were also growing up.

I think nobody knew what to expect from the album - the singles that showcase it are all over the place.

I’m not a huge fan of LGTI - but Kylie sounds great on it, listening to it now it seems quite a radio friendly track - not sure it would have worked as a single though.

Definitively - I think it's telling that Give Me Just A Little More Time was such a huge hit for her, yet it virtually did nothing for the album. I guess people weren't getting fooled that the pop track was some how representative of the album!

‘The Word Is Out’ scared them off the album

Considering the album was essentially a flop especially by Kylie’s previous 3 albums the fact that they managed multiple hit singles from it is impressive.
