Track 1 - Confide In Me

One of Kylie’s most iconic opening tracks?

before we get into all the songs, its the album that had many eyes on it to see if kylie could successfully build a career away from pwl and I think critically she def managed to win people over, sales wise it didn’t do aswell as hoped but it was part of setting up the huge times to come in kylies career. Deconstruction may not have been the most successful label for kylie commercially but they allowed her to do music that I think kylie really wanted to do and possibly needed to get out of her system before she made that big comeback to the world of pop music with light years.
Easily the best on the album! What a comeback this was! The intro is so mysterious, slightly eerie, and the strings are so dramatic and grand! One of her best vocals too. Love!
Confide in me, I will back track a little on this, look its never gona be in my fave kylie singles but I have enjoyed it a little more than I usually do when revisiting km94. It does have an eastern European music feel to it. The video is whacky in a good way, il prob give this song another few listens in a week or two to see if I can finally find the love for it that so many others have.

Confide In Me is the big statement from Kylie demanding she is taken seriously in the industry and it worked.

A pivotal single in Kylies catalogue and paved the way for a lengthy career in the industry.

Confide In Me belongs with an orchestral setting as I can see it really striking a real chord in that setting.

Deconstruction is my favorite era for Kylie, and totally agree we would not have the Kylie we do now had it not been for Deconstruction.

I often wonder how her music would have altered had KM94 and IP been absolutely huge.

Confide In Me was a shock at the time when I first heard it as I was totally not expecting something like that from her. However I LOVED it - Kylie had grown up and so had I so it was the right time for her to shake off her PWL pop roots, the video remains iconic.

Considering they were an indie label, I imagine a #4 debut and Gold certification was a great result for them, especially when you look at the performance of Let's Get To It.

ya i can see it working with an orchestra or maybe one day we will get the best of kylie orchestrated which has been done with a fair few artists lately

This - it’s almost tinged with being quite a dark song when it starts, it still sounds amazing today

it was a great turn around chart wise from lets get to it but i was thinking with all the hype around kylies comeback and her basically rebranding herself they may have wanted more.

I would love to know what their expectations were pre-release, but totally agree a huge lead single and #4 gold album was huge for an indie label.

I'm always divided on if Confide in Me is a good opener - on one hand, it's absolutely massive and clearly the best track on the album, on the other hand it's a tough act to follow and everything coming after always felt a bit underwhelming (not that they're bad, just not as mind-blowingly massive like Confide In Me is).
foe the people who really love confide in me its very hard to follow on the album, for me i didnt have that problem
If the album was pushed harder with better strategies for the singles the album would have achieved greater sales.

Totally - it was so different and such a bold statement I think that’s why I felt the album was a bit of a let down at the time, it’s almost a case of being such a strong lead single it ruin the campaign!

I always like the chorus on surrender and its def one of the stronger songs on the album, hard to call if it would have worked as a single, as another ballad following put yourself in my place may not have worked. I like the breathy type vocals on the song.
