From one cover version to another! Melanie teamed up with bandmate Emma Bunton for the lead (and only) single from her Stages album, and the result is a pretty cute version. It's absolutely not a highlight of Melanie's career, nor is the Stages album in general (even if I liked it more than I anticipated...!) but both Melanie and Emma sound really great together, and for what it is, I rather like it.

None of the songs revealed yet have made me think "wow this is surprisingly low!", so... so far, so good! (or so meh :kink: ). I Want Candy is fairly enjoyable but it couldn't have been a worse representation for the This Time album if it tried! :lol: I Know Him So Well is a lovely version, probably my favourite version of that song actually. They did some very nice TV performances of it (Emma sounded better than Melanie) :coffee:

The Steps version is better... :coffee: ... I'm not even sorry :whistle:

I Want Candy was.. a choice. It's not a bad song per se, but really didn't suit Mel imo especially when you hear the rest of the This Time record. It sticks out so much, not in a positive way. Surely the movie offered her a lot of money to record this?

 

I Know Him So Well is cute, especially to see Mel and Emma together, but far from her best songs so this place is about right.

 

Excited to see the rest of this! NBTSA, Next Best Superstar and When You're Gone for the top 3!

It was a single in terms of being released on CD & her being the featured credit on it! It didn’t have a music video but that isn’t the be all and end all in what makes something a single. Obviously it wasn’t a “main artist” single but there’s nothing that exempts it from being included in her featured artist list of singles (which is why it’s included on her Wikipedia).

If this is the only type of contribution you're gonna make then there's no point in viewing the thread. Come and take part in the fun, have a debate, but it's a bit late to be arguing over what is and isn't a single when last place has already been posted. This is nothing more than a light-hearted activity and I want it to stay that way!
