The store looks to be open again now so let's move on from this as both sides have clearly laid out their points.

Adelita, no one wants to alienate you here, it's just a heated discussion but elsewhere in the forum you'll see that we are all welcoming and ready to engage in discussion about Gaga and the chats so you don't need to leave! Have a browse around the forum and the site and see what's on offer!

US store is still closed, UK store was never closed. it was always open.

merch shop is driven by heavy fans, closing 1 day doesn't really affect sales that much.

especially when she didn't release new bundle/music items in album release week.

I'm sure the +95% fans already bought, pre-order them a week ago or months ago.

anyway, #1 is well secured with massive margin. so..

So many words and you haven't even found a decent answer. About Carly, nobody cares about her, I want positioning from the BIG artists, not from an indie artist one hit wonder with no impact and no fans. Carly's store, being open or closed, doesn't sell anything at all, proof of that is that the last year she appeared in the US and UK charts was 2015. Stop trying to hide the lack of awareness of your fav artists and try to pretend that Gaga hasn't sacrificed herself in the middle of the release week of her brand new album, for most artists who are only worried about getting likes on twitter with empty words, while they keep pocketing rivers of money on their online stores. ;)

Carly charted just last week, i-

Level of success is not the point, it’s about solidarity towards a movement.

This is a strange discussion. You’re wanting answers, yet you’re dismissing every answer that’s given to you. So what’s the point of asking? You clearly already know exactly what’s happening, not just in reality but also hypothetically. What’s the point of the discussion? You don’t actually want answers... you just want people to agree with you.

It’s very hypocritical of you to accuse others of a virtual dictatorship, and demanding that respect is shown to you, when you’re the one who is being dictating & also batting away every response to you with comments like “Stop doing long texts” and “So many words and you haven't even found a decent answer.”... which is just rude. The responses you get are the result of the posts you’re making.

Gaga made a choice to adhere to Black Out Tuesday. She is placing the importance of something she strongly believes in over her sales, that’s her prerogative. She’ll still be #1 all over the world with huge sales, so the “sacrifice” is in no way damaging. There is no point in dwelling over the scenario that Gaga would have been criticised if she didn’t shut her store if others had done, and it doesn’t matter that Beyoncé or Taylor stores weren’t removed.

UK store was shut for a while! I tried to check my order yesterday evening and it was inaccessible.

Gaga isn't Jesus, she can't do everything herself. If she helps, all the big artists have to help too, no false moralism here.

Your right she isnt jesus and can't make this situation go away with closing her shop for one day but what she can do is take a stand by showing that her art does not need to be promoted for one day so that education and other black artists and influences are promoted.

I strongly suggest you read about this movement and blackouttuesday and educate yourself more before making ill-advised comments in the future.

This 'person' should be blocked, utterly ridiculous to be justifying their stupidity with answers.
This video returning reminds us that this has been an ongoing battle for her and something she has fought for previously too:

Is that the answer you have to give me? Try to influence others to silence me? That has a name: alienation.

I know a lot about the movement and I'm following in real time the rallies for the cause, so I suggest you stay on topic before you try to come against me, the subject here is not me.

Adelita I hope you feel ok about using this forum.

I myself have had issues on this site at the past (never in the Gaga forum) but I’ve often found and felt attacked regarding some things I’ve said so if you ever need to speak to anyone I’ll be happy to message you :)

I don’t for one minute think you’re deliberately trying to be offensive. The forum is a charts forum after all and all you were doing was showing your passion for her chart position. I can see some other people’s points of view as well but I think we all care more than most on this forum regarding chart position and sales etc... it’s partly why I joined the site tbh.

I agree. She has always and consistenly had a voice for the oppressed and for her, I think that comes before her career and always has done, always will do!

I just think it's crazy to care so much about why she has decided to do this and others haven't and a slight dip in sales really shouldn't be a concern for anyone with so much horrid stuff happening in the world right now.

I apologise for my initial response being harsh I just feel very strongly about not distracting from the main issues of what's going on right now and a record shouldn't be at the forefront of our minds right now.

I think the race issue is obviously a huge huge deal and it is rightfully dominating news because what’s going on is terrible and there needs to be action but I do also at the same time understand why someone on this forum would sort of care about the chart position. Plus this site is one of few places where we can escape the nastiness of the world and have discussions on sales, peaks music etc.

I hope I don’t offend anyone by saying that ^_^

But yeah this part of the forum is definitely amongst the most welcoming  so please do continue posting Adelita.

Carly debutted at #42 on the album chart, wow... Will she spend more than a week in the top 100 like her previous album, or maybe she'll get 2 weeks like Emotion, from 5 years ago? Stop kidding around and start talking seriously. She's not Beyoncé or Taylor, who have fans and form opinions. Also, why doesn't it matter that Beyoncé, Taylor, Katy and many others haven't closed their stores? It's nothing new that most of you would be would crucify Gaga if she hadn't closed her store in respect to the movement, which 90% of the rest of the music industry hasn't done, and you don't seem to care at all. For you, it doesn't matter if none of the big artists are caring about the movement, as long as Gaga keeps losing sales in the week of the debut of her new album.

Speaking of which, her US store is still closed. :coffee:

Is is maybe possible to close this topic? I don't want to be too harsh, and I have only just joined this forum so what have I to say?, but this is really getting out of hand and it's frustrating to see people bringing up the same thing over and over again. We are talking about racism, police brutality and murder versus a chart position. I honestly can't get my head around it.

i don't think we should close the topic because it's important to discuss what is happening in the world right now + gaga's view on it.

perhaps one of the mods could have a quiet word with adelita? not about their view on this topic just on the forum rules on decorum + decency x

I did try to make this more focused on Gaga's efforts and beliefs by posting that video above.

It is easy for us to focus on the positives if we wish to! I haven't closed it because I thought we would all focus on the positives of her actions, so if we can't do that, then I will close it. Last warning I guess!

I don’t think anyone is saying it’s unreasonable to talk about chart positions and sales in a chart thread. We are all doing it. But it is unacceptable to be implying that the chart sales and positions are more important than the situation in the news just now.

I’m not trying to dictate what people can and can’t say but there must be a point when it’s clear the discussion isn’t going anywhere and is getting kinda out of hand?

^i posted that before I saw your post Haus, I won’t mention it again
