I’m off on a weekend away in South Wales - and it’s remarkable to see the difference in mentality here. In Swansea, I’ve seen THREE people wearing masks full stop and everybody seems to have forgotten about social distancing... (beautiful part of the world, though)

Masks aren’t mandatory in Wales, only on public transport.

I must say I am really shocked about the compliance of mask wearing, it is really high in England, at least where I live. Would say if I see people without masks it's normally males and usually under 25.

Interesting today Andy Burham has called out the Track & Trace as being way behind where it needs to be in Manchester. Surely the worry is it is seems like the Under 30s are spreading the virus at the moment and with schools, colleges and universities opening September onwards I agree, it's likely something is going to have to give. Most pubs/bars I have been to are barely operarting a track & trace..

Mask wearing in England has been great I think, every shop I’ve been to the vast majority have masks. I do wish Wales would make it mandatory as I still wear one but do feel silly when I’m the only one who is.

I have found most people are still going with social distancing too. Only one place I’ve been to had people almost completely ignoring it but it was a seaside-esque location which i feel is the biggest issue. I’m on holiday in Aberystwyth next week so it’ll be interesting to see how things are there.

I have booked myself in for my first swimming session in 143 days tomorrow and I really can’t wait.

I agree, I think that's what makes mask wearing so compliant as well - I know certainly in England nobody likes to be different and we certainly love a good bangwagon to follow. I#m really shocked at my compliant people are with it. Lots of shops are properly enforcing it too, more with signage than by force but I do think it's powerful. Totally agree on the social distancing element too.

I just really struggle to see how pubs/bars stay open late come September/October. The few cases we have in my county seem to be traced back to pubs/bars. Interesting, I haven't seen anything on the news about a cluster of covid cases being linked to gyms/leisure facilities yet?

Not have I but locally, gyms aren’t back until tomorrow. I’m quite confident with how my gym are organising the return and they’re a chain in England too so I’m assuming there have been no major issues there the past few weeks.

We have a local lockdown in Aberdeen and still barely anyone is social distancing eek. I went into school today for a meeting with my guidance and it wasn’t being enforced.

It’s not enforced in schools anywhere in the UK (I think NI might be doing 1 metre but I’m not sure)

When England and Wales return in September, students will not have to social distance in their bubbles which are as big as 30 people.

I know, but it wasn’t really enforced between teacher and pupil either.

I’m not sure of guidance in Scotland but in Wales it’s ‘staff must keep social distance between each other’.

Anyone 18 or younger allegedly doesn’t transmit the virus according to the government’s science.

In Scotland we’re meant to keep distance from staff and also social distance where possible, ie smaller class sizes and in the corridors.
Smaller class sizes surely cannot work full time? Most schools don’t have the rooms or the staff.

I think that's more for the younger years, by S6 most classes have less than 15 pupils in anyway. None of us here have a clue how it's gonna work lol, we're having an induction on Friday.

From what I understand, pupils in NI schools won't need to adhere to social distancing (instead, "best spacing" is advised), but the teachers and other adults will.

Basically it's not possible so sod the rules at school and potentially bring the virus home with you.

New Zealand reported community transmission again. Auckland in to Level 3 (which is basically lockdown) and the rest of the country in Level 2.

Meanwhile Russia think they have a vaccine. I somehow can't see the Western powers using it.

Putin reportedly tested a vaccine on his (probably least favourite) daughter :')

I know I read that too. Seems strange that they want to test at the same time as putting the virus in to production. I think it is more of a PR move.

There are a few vaccines already in full production ready to distributed if it is deemed safe (e.g. University of Oxford) mainly as the cost is insignificant in the event it is pulled and not deemed safe.

Does this mean it's in the community? I heard it was 1 family?

Our work closed again today after a few cases, this could go on for the rest of the year.
